The Panther Post
Monday, February 12, 2024
DPHS Community Member,

On Tuesday, we will be operating on a modified bell schedule in order to conduct a device infrastructure trial of students' laptops during the 3rd period (details below). This will help to alleviate potential problems when testing this spring. OCPS wants to make sure that all students are able to access the testing platforms at the same time, so running the trial this week allows time to fix any issues that may arise.

Student progress reports will be available this Thursday on Skyward. I ask that all of our parents invest a few minutes to review their student's grades here at the midpoint of the 3rd quarter. If parents have any problems accessing Skyward, please contact the school or ask your student to open Skyward up on their laptop.

As for this Panther Post edition, I think you will enjoy reading about some of our Panthers' latest successes and happenings. Thank you very much for reading.

Academic Celebration
Quarter 3 Honor Roll
On Thursday, February 1st there were two different Academic Celebrations held to celebrate students who made the Honor Roll in quarter 3. In order to make the Honor Roll, the students had to have all A’s and B’s on their report card from the second quarter. The students had fun playing with games, socializing and eating pizza!

Thank you to the DP PTSA for their assistance with making this special celebration a success and guidance counselor Ms. Henry for organizing the event!

Assistant Principal Ms. Morrow also had this to say: “We are so thankful for the donations from our parents. The Academic Celebration was a huge success.”

If you want to donate for our next celebration, please use the links below:

Any monetary donations or games from the wish list will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.

School Policy Reminders
Blankets Not Permitted
Please remind students that due to being a fire and trip hazard, blankets are not allowed on school campus. A staff member will first give a warning to put away and not bring back. If the student refuses, the blanket will be stored in building 700 (Discipline Office) for students to pick up after school.

Class Dismissal
Students, please remember that you are not allowed to leave your classroom in the first or last 10 minutes of every class period
Student Drop Offs
Panther parents and student drivers, please remember that there is only ONE lane to turn right into the student parking lot and student drop off lanes. Please do not cut off other cars or attempt to turn right from the center lane. This not only can cause an accident, but endangers yourself, the other drivers around you and anyone walking in the immediate area.

As a reminder, you should also NEVER be dropping your students off ON Turkey Lake Road. This is extremely dangerous, especially in the dark mornings and could cause you or your student to be harmed if other cars do not anticipate your stop or see your student. The only place your student can be dropped off is in the drop off lane on the DPHS campus. Please remember, arriving early means your student can be dropped off quicker and safer.
