WHEATLAND, MO. (Aug. 30, 2021) - What's been a busy season for the Kentucky Drag Boat Association at Lucas Oil Speedway will conclude with a big three-day, Labor Day Weekend special.
It's the 11th annual Diamond Drag Boat Nationals on Lake Lucas, Friday through Sunday with action set in both Sportsman and Pro divisions.
A purse of $37,500 will be up for grabs and the television cameras will be rolling to catch the action for future airing on MAVTV Motorsports Network, CBS Sports and the CBS Sports Network.
The KDBA last appeared at Lake Lucas July 31-Aug. 1 for the Show-Me Shootout on Lake Lucas. Winners included Don Gordy (Pro Outlaw), Rick Allen (Top Alcohol Hydro), Tyler Speer (Pro Mod), Tyler Salsman (Quick Eliminator), Justin Schmidt (Pro Eliminator), Scott Schuette (Pro Comp Flat), Bill Del've (Top Eliminator), Kyle Fawks (Modified Eliminator), Christy Moroles (Stock Eliminator) and Stacy Hughes (Personal Watercraft).
Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton reminds drag boat racers and fans that a revised pricing package is available for the lakeside RV and camping spots adjacent to Lake Lucas. They must be purchased in advance by contacting Admissions Director Nichole McMillan at (417) 282-5984.
For the three-day show, the Lakeside RV Package is $250. It includes a 20 by 45 foot space, one vehicle pass and one golf cart pass. Campers can deduct $50 per package if they do not need a vehicle pass and another $50 if a golf cart pass is not necessary.
In addition to the action on Lake Lucas, the Lucas Oil Speedway dirt oval will be busy Saturday night with the 2nd annual Lucas Oil MLRA Ron Jenkins Memorial. Joining the Late Models will be the Ozark Golf Cars USRA B-Mods and O'Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars.
Fans purchasing tickets for the Diamond Drag Boat Nationals will receive free admission to the dirt-track program on Saturday night.

MLRA on the dirt: The Lucas Oil MLRA visits Lucas Oil Speedway for the final time in 2021, for the 2nd annual Lucas Oil MLRA Ron Jenkins Memorial. Winner of the Late Model event will earn $6,000.
The MLRA winner will also receive a $1,000 bonus, and the Fast Time Qualifier will receive a $500 bonus courtesy of Mary Jenkins in Memory of Ron Jenkins, the original builder of Wheatland Raceway.
Tony Jackson Jr. of Lebanon holds a 220-point lead in the MLRA championship chase over Garrett Alberson of Las Cruces, New Mexico.
The Ozark Golf Car USRA B-Mods will also be in action as the drivers battle for a special $750 to win top prize. The O’Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars will also be in action as the drivers battle for $750 to win.
While the track points season concluded last Saturday, B-Mod and Stock Car drivers will be pursuing USRA national points.
Gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:05.
