Hello High School Students and Families!
With the end of the year upon us, I want to take the time to celebrate the HS team and our amazing students; 2023 is one for the record books. We graduated our fourth graduating class, celebrated our sixth year as a high school, and had our first exams after IB returned to pre-pandemic rigor. There's so much to celebrate - I am incredibly proud of the work our students do every day. I enjoy being able to come to this building every day to see the wonderful things that happen.
Recently we have had much to celebrate - our seniors have already reached 7 million dollars in scholarships, we had 94 students hit the Principal's List (biggest ever!) and 139 students who made the Honor Roll, DCI has had several students recognized for their work with PBS Newshour, DCI had 84 new students inducted into the National Honor Society, students on the Cross Country and Soccer teams took home championship wins, we had 7 of the 8 winners in the One World Essay Contest, students have led projects around the city to clean up their community, DCI High School's first musical of the year was a huge success, we sweeped 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for the OSSE scholars program, we opened our new wellness center, and finally celebrated nearly 120 students as IB learner profile trait winners... and that's just SOME of the accomplishments.
Ending the year reflecting on what could have gone better is always easier for me than remembering all the amazing things that have gone well. As I ease into year three as Principal, I am grateful for all of you. Working with the staff, students, and families has been amazing. There's no place like DCI High School - thank you for all you have done to make this an incredible place for learning. I know 2024 will be even better.
Wishing you all Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year!
Warm regards,
Chris Nace
High School Principal
