Dear St. George Families,
A few years ago at our all school Mass, Fr. Mike asked us all, "How can we be a
blessing to one another this new year?" It got me thinking...what about the blessing
that we give at Mass for newly baptized children, or the blessing offered at the deathbed
of a loved one is an offering of energy and love as each takes next steps in life.
Baptism and death are special sacramental moments...how can we move to consider
our lives immersed in those moments of blessing?
As parents, so much of what we do is routine, but perhaps it is the very routine that
begs us to consider each holy moment. What if we blessed our children and our lives in
these mundane moments?
- When our children wake up?
- As we struggle to find clean uniforms, socks and shoes?
- As our children exit the car in the morning?
- When we prepare their lunches or dinners?
- In the check-out line?
- As we drive to work?
- Is there a time for blessing at our children's bedsides at night?
- Truly, any joyful or onerous task?
As we begin this new year, consider the many ways we can both be a blessing and offer
a blessing to others. Have a great week! St. George, pray for us!

The Diocesan Office of Child and Youth Protection works with families to teach virtues to our children. In conjunction with the Circles of Grace curriculum that was taught to Kindergarten-8th grade, families are receiving a flyer this week about the virtue of
FORTITUDE
. Please take some time to discuss this virtue as a family, as we work together to raise our children to be strong, faith-filled young people.
HERE
is a link to the flyer as well.
