Advent Season - A Time to Prepare

Seasons! We live by them. Each season is filled with activities and excitement. So, too, with the Advent season; a time to 'clean house' and prepare ourselves for Christmas. We will all be spending hours cleaning, decorating and preparing our homes for Christmas. We should also do some 'spiritual cleaning' in preparation for Christmas. Some things you might consider:
  • Choose a personal habit or flaw and work to change it by making a donation to your favorite charity everytime you relapse into that behavior. You'll cure yourself and help others at the same time.
  • Select a virtue and practice it. One virtue is generosity. How can you practice generosity with your time, talent, and treasure during Advent?
  • Family spiritual time. Spend a few minutes each day in prayer as a family. Use your Advent wreath and attend Mass each weekend as a family. The important thing is to remember the true meaning of Christmas and to make that a daily part of your life.
God bless,
Jack Nelson

NUT ALLERGY STATEMENT
REGARDING SNACKS BROUGHT TO SCHOOL
VERY IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ!
  • All food items brought to school for birthdays (PreK and K only), gold slip parties, holiday parties, retreats, etc. must be store bought and must contain a label. The items must be nut free, including but not limited to peanuts and tree nuts (almonds, brazil nuts, cashews, chestnuts, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, pistachios, pinenuts and walnuts).
  • If a product label says the food item contains, may contain, is produced in a facility that contains or is manufactured on equipment that processes peanuts and or tree nuts, this item is unacceptable.
  • Home prepared food items are not allowed.
  • Please read labels and plan accordingly when choosing snacks to bring to school.
We will no longer be able to serve donuts from Thee Heavenly Donut. In the past they would supply a label stating that they were nut free. They will no longer be able to do so as they serve tree nuts. It is against our policy to serve any food without a label or items that are made in a facility that contains nuts. If you need suggestions on what to serve, please talk with your teacher or the nurses. Thank you with helping to keep all of our children safe.

The December virtue is  generosity . Generosity is giving without counting the cost. When we truly love someone, we want to give them all kinds of good things without worrying about how much time or treasure it will cost. Jesus Christ gave His own life for us without counting the cost - the best example of generosity ever!
Suggested Activities for families to practice our virtue of generosity together this month:
  • Adopt a needy family to help with Christmas. Shop as a family for this family.
  • Bake cookies as a family and bring them to a nursing home as you visit the elderly.
