For our November Stewardship Project, our students will prepare Thanksgiving baskets for the needy. It is at this time that we consciously reflect and give thanks for the many blessings God has bestowed on us. We will offer a special prayer over items at our mass on Friday, November 17, 2023.
Students are asked to bring an assigned food item and $1.00 (suggested amount – no coins, please) to purchase a turkey or chicken to fill a basket. Homeroom teachers have assigned a food item to each student to get a balanced food basket from each class. Food assignment letters will be sent home with students on Monday, November 6th.
These food baskets are distributed by the St. George Chapter of the St. Vincent de Paul Society to needy families residing in St. George Parish. Each year, we provide a basket for approximately 40 families.
Through this service project we have an excellent opportunity to teach and reinforce the spirit of generosity. You may wish to consider the following:
1. Have your child work at some “little job” around the house to earn the cost of the contribution.
2. Encourage your child to give from his/her savings.
Thank you for your generous cooperation as we share our gifts with those less fortunate.
The St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry is currently running low on canned meat (chicken, spam, Vienna sausage), tuna, ravioli and spaghetti, mac and cheese, canned fruit, peanut butter, and jelly.
Please consider donating an extra food item.
