Did You Know?

November Stewardship Project - Thanksgiving Food Baskets

For our November Stewardship Project, our students will prepare Thanksgiving baskets for the needy. It is at this time that we consciously reflect and give thanks for the many blessings God has bestowed on us. We will offer a special prayer over items at our mass on Friday, November 17, 2023.

Students are asked to bring an assigned food item and $1.00 (suggested amount – no coins, please) to purchase a turkey or chicken to fill a basket. Homeroom teachers have assigned a food item to each student to get a balanced food basket from each class. Food assignment letters were sent home with students on Monday, November 6th

These food baskets are distributed by the St. George Chapter of the St. Vincent de Paul Society to needy families residing in St. George Parish. Each year, we provide a basket for approximately 40 families.

Through this service project we have an excellent opportunity to teach and reinforce the spirit of generosity. You may wish to consider the following:

1.   Have your child work at some “little job” around the house to earn the cost of the contribution.

2.   Encourage your child to give from his/her savings.

Thank you for your generous cooperation as we share our gifts with those less fortunate.

The St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry is currently running low on canned meat (chicken, spam, Vienna sausage), tuna, ravioli and spaghetti, mac and cheese, canned fruit, peanut butter, and jelly.

Please consider donating an extra food item.

Cafeteria Visitors

A big THANK YOU to all those who contributed to our October Diaper Drive at St. George School!  We are able to help many babies in our area.

Cafeteria Visitors

We are excited to extend this invitation to our school parents, but due to limited space, only one parent visitor can attend per quarter and the following guidelines must be adhered to so we can accommodate all parents who wish to eat lunch in the cafeteria.

Parents who wish to eat lunch with their child must:

  • Sign up on the Sign-Up Genius before Monday at 12:00 noon.
  • Only those parents who have signed up are allowed to visit the cafeteria.
  • Due to space, one parent visitor is allowed per quarter. Please do not sign up for more than one visit per quarter as this blocks other parents from signing up.
  • When signing up, include whether you will purchase a plate lunch from the cafeteria or bring something from home so the cafeteria can plan accordingly.
  • If you are not purchasing a cafeteria lunch and are bringing food into the cafeteria, the Child Nutrition Program does not allow food that is wrapped or marked with commercial/fast food labels in the cafeteria.
  • For safety reasons, siblings are not allowed.
  • Because this is a special time for parents to be with their child, parents and their child will eat together at the designated visitors’ tables/spaces. Other students must stay in their regular seat assignments.
  • Upon arrival, parents should sign in at the school office and receive a visitors pass. Parents should walk directly to the cafeteria when their child’s lunch time begins. When lunch is over, parents should walk directly to the office and sign out.
  • Parents should not follow students to the classroom or activities after lunch.
  • For the privacy and safety of students, cell phones are not allowed to be used on campus for personal reasons. You can take a picture with your child, but it must be outside or without other students in the background. Please enjoy this cell-phone free time with your child.

We hope you enjoy this time together with your child and appreciate your cooperation and willingness to follow the guidelines above.

Lunch price - $ 6.30 (check only) - no lunch charges for parents that forgot their checks at home

Our 6th and 7th/8th grade teams earned bids to the bowl games hosted by St. Michael and Catholic High this weekend. This is the last time this year to see these teams in action and the last game for our 8th graders so make sure you go check out the games!!

6th Grade Warrior Bowl: Saturday, 11/11 @ 10:00 am at St. Michael’s Field

7th/8th Grade Bruin Bowl: Sunday, 11/12 @ 4:30 pm at CHS Field

Good luck to all of the boys in the final football games of the year.

Swim:

The swim team finished their season with a great showing at the City Championships! Congratulations to the girls for capturing 2nd place overall!! There were several school records broken and many top finishes, see all of the results: Final Swim Meet Results

Congratulations to all of our swimmers for a great season!

Uniform Return:

It is time to turn in fall sports uniforms. There is a bin in the school office where uniforms can be returned anytime the office is open. Please make sure the uniform is clean and in a large ziplock bag clearly labeled with your student athlete’s name and grade (do not use a post-it on the outside of the bag as those tend to fall off and I will not know whose uniform it is). Please have all uniforms returned no later than next Friday, 11/17.
