Dear St. George Parents,

Over the past two weeks I have had the pleasure of meeting with each individual teacher on our staff to accept their Letter of Intent for the upcoming school year, discuss their progress in fulfilling their four professional goals for the year, and listening to their pros and cons of this year. As daunting of a task as this might seem, it was a wonderful way to connect with each teacher and get the temperature of how everyone is doing. I was invigorated by their energy and love of teaching, inspired by the things they have learned this year, and in awe of how they have supported each other. Many teachers agreed that teaching one subject allowed them to really focus on their lesson plans and create engaging activities. They love getting to know all the students in the grade level and appreciate wearing tennis shoes as they walk campus every day. They are physically tired from increased work loads and added procedures, but happy to be at school instead of virtual. They like inside virtual assembly and our new carpool system. They miss having time to talk to one another and getting together. They have grown tremendously in their technological capabilities, but also realize that technology keeps them working long hours. They are proud of what they have overcome and accomplished in this school year and are looking forward to planning for the new school year.

Words cannot express how grateful I am for their dedication to our students and St. George school!
Next week I will share what the students think are the pros and cons of this year.

Mrs. Fontenot

Applications for Tuition Assistance
St. George Church provides limited funds to offer tuition assistance for parish families who are experiencing financial difficulties. This assistance is available to families registered in St. George Parish who have demonstrated a desire for Catholic education at St. George Catholic School for their children and who, because of extraordinary circumstances, can demonstrate a need for tuition assistance.

Applications for Tuition Assistance are obtained from the St. George Church Office, 7808 St. George Drive, Baton Rouge. The completed applications should be returned to the St. George Church Office in an envelope addressed to the “Tuition Assistance Committee”. Applications must be submitted by March 31 prior to the school year for which tuition assistance is requested. Assistance is given for one school year. A new application must be submitted each year. You may call the St. George Church Office for more information (225) 293-2212.

Circles of Grace Key Concepts
Circle of Grace educates and empowers children and young people to actively participate in a safe environment for themselves and others, while being taught in the framework of our Catholic faith.

Circle of Grace lessons bring God and our Catholic beliefs into the center of child protection. The lessons contribute to the protection of our young children and affirms them as beloved children of God.

St. George students will participate in the Circle of Grace lessons the week of February 22. More information will be sent to parents as we near that date. HERE is a parent infographic with the key concepts of the program.

Call for Door Prizes for Teacher Appreciation Week
The Home and School Special Events Committee is accepting donations to make “swag bags” for our teachers to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week. Donated door prizes are usually given during the annual sit-down luncheon. Although there will not be a luncheon this year, we will still collect prizes to make "swag bags" for each teacher to let them know how much we appreciate them. If you would like to donate an item (nothing is too big or too small), please send items to the office with your name on it by Friday, February 5th. You may contact Jesse Lambert with any questions- 225-572-1352. All individuals and businesses will be recognized for their donation in Dragon Tales.
