The St. George Book Fair is fast approaching! The theme this year is Books Bring Us Together! Please take note of the dates below:

September 13-17: Preview Week
Students will visit to preview during their regular library time

Sunday, September 19: Book Fair Open House - 10:00AM-1:00PM All are welcome!

September 20-24: Book Fair Sale Week Unfortunately, parents will not be able to shop with their children at school this week.

Return To School From Absence Information
All children must be 100% healthy when returning to school.

1). If your child is not 100% and has any signs of illness, they are required to stay home for 24 hours minimum after the symptoms have resolved without the use of medications and no new additional symptoms develop. Use parental discretion to decide if your child needs to see a physician. Parents are required to submit a student absence form each day your child is absent with updated status. If you need to share additional information with the nurses, include it in the student absence form as the nurses review these daily.

2) If your child is Covid-19 exposed then they may return 10 days after last contact (day 11) with Covid-19 positive person. If the exposure happens at school, the parents will receive an email from the school with a return date. If the exposure occurs from a known source outside of school, such as a family member, speak to your child's pediatrician and inform the school nurse to verify their return date. If at any point your child develops any symptoms, then contact your pediatrician and the school nurse to update your return date. Parents are required to submit a student absence form each day and include any changes. Per the Diocese of Baton Rouge, your child may not participate in extracurricular or co-curricular activities, including sports teams, PE class, music instruction, field trips, etc. until day 15.

Individuals who are in close contact (within 6 feet of an infected person for a total of 15 minutes during a 24-hour period) must quarantine for 10 days unless they: 
  • are asymptomatic and choose to show documentation of a vaccination 
  • or show documentation of a positive COVID-19 test taken through a medical facility within the last 90 days. 

If your child does meet the exceptions listed above, please contact the school nurse, via email, so that the return date can be adjusted. 

3) If your child tests positive for Covid-19, after speaking with your child's pediatrician, email the absence line and contact the school nurse to verify the return date. Parents are responsible for notifying of any close contacts that occur outside of the classroom.

As with any absence, be sure to remain in direct communication with all of your child's teachers.

Athletic Dragon News
It is a big week for athletics and we are all excited to see the kids back in action!!

All of our football teams will be competing in their jamboree games this weekend. 4th grade plays at St. Aloysius Saturday morning at 9:00, and we will be hosting 5th, 6th and 7th/8th grade jamborees at home on Sunday

Make plans to come out Sunday and watch the boys back in action with the cheerleaders on the sidelines cheering them on. The weather will be beautiful and we will have delicious jambalaya from Mr. Paul McDonner! It is sure to be a great day on the Dragon field!!

The jamboree schedule for Sunday is as follows:

7th/8th grade - 3:30 pm

Girls Basketball:
Congratulations to the 6th grade varsity team for a big jamboree win last night as they started their playing season. Good luck to the 7th and 8th grade varsity teams playing in their jamborees tonight and tomorrow!

Cross Country:
The cross country team has been training hard the last few weeks and will compete in their first meet this weekend. Best of luck to all of the runners Saturday morning at the Episcopal Middle School meet at Highland Road Park!

Our swim team started practice this week and the kids are off to a great start in the water. If you have not completed the online registration process please do so as soon as possible.

First Virtual Pep Rally Friday 9/10:
Mrs. Tucker-Day and the cheerleaders have a fun afternoon planned to recognize our fall sports athletes at our first virtual pep rally of the school year. All student-athletes participating in a fall sport may bring their jersey or sports t-shirt to school tomorrow to wear over their school uniform as their teams are acknowledged. Please remind your child the importance of making sure their jersey makes it home with them at the end of the day.

Registration for 2021-2022 Now Open! Deadline Saturday 9/25/2021

Dragon Hearts Club is a service club for girls in grades KG-5th that was started in 2017 at St. George School. Our motto is “Do small things with great love” from Saint Teresa. We are focused on friends, having fun while serving others and learning about our Catholic faith. For our middle school girls (grades 6-8), we have the Divine Mercy Girls who get to do more hands-on service projects in and for our community.
