Looking Ahead

Principal's Message

We Need YOU – Volunteer & Support the St. George Fair!

Dear St. George Families,

The countdown is on for our beloved St. George Fair – October 17-19! This exciting tradition is a highlight of our parish and school community, but it can only happen with the help of many hands and generous hearts.

With over 700 volunteer spots to fill, we truly need every family to pitch in. Whether you love working with kids, running games, helping with food, or just lending a hand wherever needed – there is a place for you! Truly, there is something for everyone.

The fair is not only a fun-filled weekend but also a major fundraiser that supports the mission of St. George. Your time and service make all the difference in bringing this event to life for our children, families, and community.

👉 Please don’t wait—sign up today to volunteer! https://www.st-george.org/fair-volunteer

Additionally, if you or your business would like to help make an even bigger impact, consider becoming a St. George Fair Sponsor. Sponsorships are a wonderful way to support our school and parish while receiving recognition throughout the fair.

Thank you in advance for your generosity of time, talent, and treasure.

Together, we’ll make this year’s St. George Fair one to remember!

September Stewardship Project - Dragons for St. Jude

“Sock It to Childhood Cancer” Stewardship Project

Monday, September 8 – Wednesday, September 17

September is childhood cancer awareness month. Our stewardship project for September will focus on developing compassion for those who are ill, especially children who receive treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

We walk and raise funds in loving memory of Alexander Himpler who received cancer treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Why we choose to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital:

  • St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats, and defeats childhood cancer.
  • No family ever receives a bill from St. Jude – not for treatment, travel, housing, or food. They want the family to focus on the health of the child.
  • Currently over 900 active patients from Louisiana are under the care of St. Jude. The impact of St. Jude locally in Baton Rouge is felt throughout the community. St. Jude has an affiliate clinic in Baton Rouge that helps locally treat patients.

St. George students are invited to donate $1.00 or more to our September Service Project. On Wednesday, September 17, we will host a St. Jude Walk in the gym from 7:20 – 7:40 am. Students are welcome to wear silly socks to help us “sock it to childhood cancer".

Lunch Visitor Sign-Up / Child Nutrition Program Notes

The K-8th cafeteria will be open to lunch visitors on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays of regular schedule school days. The PreK cafeteria will begin welcoming visitors at a later date, when the PreK students are completely adjusted to their school routines and developmentally prepared to handle visitors coming and going.

We are excited to extend this invitation to our school parents, but due to limited space, only one parent visitor can attend per quarter and the following guidelines must be adhered to so we can accommodate all parents who wish to eat lunch in the cafeteria.

Parents who wish to eat lunch with their child must:

  • Sign up on the Sign-Up Genius posted in Dragon Tales before Monday at 12:00 noon.
  • Only those parents who have signed up are allowed to visit the cafeteria.
  • Due to space, one parent visitor is allowed per quarter. Please do not sign up for more than one visit per quarter as this blocks other parents from signing up.
  • When signing up, include whether you will purchase a plate lunch from the cafeteria or bring something from home so the cafeteria can plan accordingly.
  • If you are not purchasing a cafeteria lunch and are bringing food into the cafeteria, the Child Nutrition Program does not allow food that is wrapped or marked with commercial/fast food labels in the cafeteria.
  • For safety reasons, siblings are not allowed.
  • Because this is a special time for parents to be with their child, parents and their child will eat together at the designated visitors’ tables/spaces. Other students must stay in their regular seat assignments.
  • Upon arrival, parents should sign in at the school office and receive a visitors pass. Parents should walk directly to the cafeteria when their child’s lunch time begins. When lunch is over, parents should walk directly to the office and sign out.
  • Parents should not follow students to the classroom or activities after lunch.
  • For the privacy and safety of students, cell phones are not allowed to be used on campus for personal reasons. You can take a picture with your child, but it must be outside or without other students in the background. Please enjoy this cell-phone free time with your child. We hope you enjoy this time together with your child and appreciate your cooperation and willingness to follow the guidelines above.

Lunch price - $ 6.30 (check only) - No lunch charges for parents that forgot their checks at home.

Thank you.

Please visit the Child Nutrition Program website for information regarding meal prices, free/ reduced meals program, student meal accounts, and payment options.

Please note that according to the LA. School Food Service Policy Guidance Manual, outside restaurant food and soft drinks are not allowed in the school cafeteria. Your compliance is appreciated and necessary.
