A Note from Jim
The fiftieth day of Eastertide, known as Whitsunday or Pentecost, fast approaches, and for me has kind of creeped up out of nowhere! The same can be said for the end of the music ministry program year which concludes this Sunday. Members of our Chancel Choir, Motet Ensemble and Youth Chorale will combine again on this special feast day with music of Tudor era composer Christopher Tye and living composers Simon Lole and Jeffrey Rickard.
Our Spirit Singers wrapped up on Good Shepherd Sunday May 12, and enjoyed an end of year ice cream party graciously hosted by Spirit Singer parents Lindsey Drager and Richard Schwappach. Thank you!

Our Third Sunday Band with special guests Sue Tice and Keith Arneson wrapped up with one of our biggest services of the year on Sunday June 9, our annual Bluegrass Mass. Although they are on summer “recess” from church, do come out and support them at two upcoming June events, the Wednesday evening June 13 Baysox game in Bowie and at the Annapolis Pride parade Saturday afternoon on June 29.

As previously mentioned, Chancel Choir, Motet Ensemble and Youth Chorale are wrapping this Sunday, with final rehearsals this week. In a past Dragon tales note, I mentioned Sundays July 14 and August 18 as two Sundays where a “pick-up” choir will offer the music for 9 & 11:15 a.m. These days are the perfect opportunity for parishioners (and friends of parishioners or family members in town visiting) who love music and who love to sing to offer their musical talents and to lend their voices to the choir Open to anyone middle school ages and above, current choir member or not, do consider joining us! Rehearsals will be at 8 a.m. on both days.

Lastly, a special congratulations and thank you to Youth Chorale graduating seniors Abigail Wenz and Rita Veno for their contributions to the Chorale and the musical life of St. Margaret’s this year.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for information about the musical offerings during the summer months and the 2019-2020 program year.

The Rev. Peter W. Mayer will lead a Holy Eucharist class for younger children (ages 3-9) THIS Saturday in the sanctuary at 11 a.m. The hour will include what Eucharist is for, why it is done each Sunday, and how it is prepared. All children welcome!

Annapolis Pride Event June 29

St. Margaret's members will be taking part in a variety of Annapolis Pride events coming up this month. St. Margaret's is offering members the opportunity to march in the Pride parade and represent our parish in the Pride festival that day.

Coming Soon: Camp Allen

St. Margaret's will host Camp Allen this summer, from August 5- 9. It is a half-day day camp for the children of the Allen Apartments in the Parole area of Annapolis. It was founded by Wes and Arvilla Wubbenhorst as an outgrowth of the church's mission trips to Honduras over 20 years ago. We are seeking volunteers for a wide variety of roles. Whatever your interests and skill set, we have a job for you. We are looking for youth counselors, people to lead or help with crafts and activities on Monday and Tuesday, people to help with registration on Monday and Tuesday, chaperones for field trips on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and help with preparing and serving snacks and meals. Spanish speaking is not required (although very welcome!). In the upcoming weeks there will be sign-up opportunities in the parish hall, or you may contact coordinator, Sarah Hyde, at 410 562-9904 or email [email protected].

Our new Summer Children's Hour begins next Sunday, June 13 at 10:20 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Kids ages 3-10 and their families are encouraged to join clergy for a discussion on the Gospel lesson and a craft/activity following.
