Summer is upon us! And things at St. Margaret’s Church are heating up! Bluegrass Sunday and our church picnic are on June 2nd. Bring a blanket or your lawn chairs. And bring a dish to share (see below for name assignments). Make sure you greet a person you don't know when you're in line or eating lunch.

And although our Sunday School classes have ended, we will be offering a program this summer for children and their families from 10:20 – 11 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall beginning on June 16th. The classes will have two parts. Part One is clergy-led (allowing our children to spend more time and learn with us) featuring a Bible-based lesson that we can apply in our lives. The second part is run by you, the family. We need folks to volunteer to lead Part Two, the craft portion. (One family per week.)

Thinking about playing hooky for church this summer? Think again!
This summer we introduce Bible Bingo.
Parishioners will be given one (bingo) card per family/couple/individual on June 16th (or any other Sunday afterwards). The Revs. Peter or Patti will have different letters/numbers to hand out each week. We'll play all summer. Bingo prize is a lunch with the staff member of your choice OR a gift card of your choice. The more you attend this summer, the better chance you have!
And last, but not least, we have Vacation Bible School! “Who is My Neighbor?” is our theme this year. We will have lessons from the Bible to help us understand what Jesus meant when he said “Love your neighbor.” Many thanks to all who of the many volunteers who are already planning activities, art and lessons. With our Youth Group leading that wonderful service on May 12, and the Godly Play children helping the Altar Guild last week, we have a lot of momentum going. Let’s keep it rolling as the summer progresses! Join in the many activities we have going on here at church. Don’t be a stranger this summer!

Announcing Summer Children's Hour
This summer we offer a special Children's Hour each Sunday during coffee hour (10:20 to 11 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall) to foster the formation of our youngest parishioners. Our Summer Children's Hour includes a gathering with clergy to discuss the Gospel Lesson of the Day and a craft/activity connected to the lesson. Our first Sunday will be June 16 and our last is August 25.
A family each week is needed to help set up for the activities and then clean up afterwards. Supplies will be organized and supplies in advance.We request that our SMC families take one Sunday during the summer to sign up for this effort.

We will once again hold a young children's (preschool-grade 3) Holy Communion class with Rev. Peter on Saturday, June 8 at 11 a.m. Children will then be helpers with Holy Eucharist on Sunday, June 9 at 9:00 or 11:15 a.m.

It is not often a sermon receives a round of applause but that happened at the 9:00 a.m. service this past Sunday. We recorded the 11:15 a.m. service. But the sermon was just as good (as was Third Sunday Band). Take a look below!

Guild Summer Luncheon on June 5
Our St. Margaret's Guild's annual summer luncheon will be held at Carrol's Creek Cafe in Annapolis on Wednesday, June 5 at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $30 each. Purchase by check to "St. Margaret's Church" and "Guild luncheon" in the memo line.

Youth Group Activities
Our Youth Group for students ages middle through high school will be meeting on Monday night June 3 and June 10th in Classroom D at 6:30 p.m.
There will be a End of Year Lock-in on Monday, June 15 starting at 6 p.m. Monday through 8 a.m. Tuesday including Bubbleball! Please contact Youth Ministries Leader Jeff Conover at

if you plan on going. A safety contract for bubbleball must be completed for participation.

Camp Allen Coming Soon
St. Margaret's will host Camp Allen this summer, from August 5-9, 2019. It is a half-day day camp for the children of the Allen Apartments in the Parole area of Annapolis. It was founded by Wes and Arvilla Wubbenhorst as an outgrowth of the church's mission trips to Honduras over 20 years ago. We are seeking volunteers for a wide variety of roles. Whatever your interests and skill set, we have a job for you. We are looking for youth counselors, people to lead or help with crafts and activities on Monday and Tuesday, people to help with registration on Monday and Tuesday, chaperones for field trips on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and help with preparing and serving snacks and meals. Spanish speaking is not required (although very welcome!). In the upcoming weeks there will be sign-up opportunities in the parish hall, or you may contact coordinator, Sarah Hyde, at 410 562-9904 or email [email protected].

Volunteer Math Tutors Needed

Math tutors are needed at the Jennifer Rd Detention Center in Annapolis to help inmates with the desire to turn their lives around and earn a high school diploma through the GED program. Giving at St. Margaret's
As we grow closer to the summer months, vacations are in the near future for many parishioners. We offer a reminder that giving regularly at St. Margaret's is an important part of sustaining the life of the parish. There are a variety of ways to continue giving even when you are away from home.

ensures that checks are sent to St. Margaret's on a regular basis. Contact your bank to start the process of giving. (As a reminder -- we now have locked mailboxes to prevent the thefts we experienced earlier this year.)
