Dear Parents,

We are into November and I'm shaking my head in amazement that we're just two weeks from Thanksgiving - where, oh where has the time gone?

This is the time of year to remind everyone about school start times. We've seen a significant increase in tardies over the past couple of weeks. I know there is quite a bit of roadwork occurring in and around our school right now, so please take this into account and leave early enough to avoid those traffic situations.

I do want to remind you that our middle school classes begin promptly at  8:00 a.m. and our elementary classes begin promptly at  8:15 a.m. This means that if your child is walking in the door right at  8:00 a.m. for middle school or  8:15 a.m. for elementary school, then your child is already missing out on valuable time in the classroom. Remember - once your child enters the building, he/she still needs to go to their cubby or locker and square things away for the day. Rushing in late puts unneeded stress on our children.

So what time should your child arrive at school? Honestly, students should be here no later than the time we open the doors for them to go to their cubbies or lockers. For middle schoolers that time is  7:45 a.m. and for elementary students that time is  8:00 a.m. This way you can't go wrong; your child has plenty of time to visit with friends, put things away and get ready for the day.

Have a wonderful weekend - and don't forget to set your clocks back  on Saturday so your child will be on time for school  on Monday!!

Take care,

Robin Lowe,
Executive Principal
Flagstaff Academy
