After one of the hottest summers on record, we seem to be trending towards one of the coldest falls in recent memory.  It's a shame because the aeration of the greens is complete and the ball is rolling great!    I don't recall a time where the fairway and rough were in as lush and healthy as they are right now.  Kudos to Donny Valdock and his team for all their hard work!

 

The #1 question I get asked this time of year is "when do you think the course will be closing?" My standard answer is "whenever golfers stop booking times".    

Thanks to the turn in the weather this has already happened somewhat, but we still remain hopeful for some good golfing days to come.  If you follow us on our  Facebook page, I will use it to update you on our closing day.  

 

September was a very busy month for us here at Dragonfly.  We  hosted the Ladies & Men's Senior Intersectionals on August 27th  and Sept 4th respectively (yes, I know August is not September).  In both cases our teams did a wonderful job making the visiting clubs feel welcome and in both cases our teams competed admirably, finishing in 2nd place.  This means that we will host the Men's event again next year, but because we hosted the ladies event two years in a row we cannot host again in 2019.

We wrapped up our leagues with three closing tournaments and banquets.  Our leagues are an integral part of our identity, our business model, and a great source of pride for Dragonfly.  I am very grateful to all our players, (over 280 in total), and in particular to the team captains.  Thank your to Shawn Mosiondz, my pro shop superstar, who worked very hard all year to make sure that all our league players were treated to outstanding customer service.

Our Men's League has grown over the past few years forcing us to have 2-day closing events.  33 teams of 6 golfers played on either Sept 15th or 22nd.  Congrats to the team of Layton Knight-Locke Contracting who won the tie breaker with the defending champs from Renfrew Pizzeria.  Both teams had amazing scores of 15 under par!   

September 29th was our Ladies league closing tournament, where we also had a new winner this year:  Congrats to the team of Weapons of Grass Destruction with a fantastic score of 5 under par.
