Day 12 December 14, 2021
Did you ever ask for things as a kid? I did. My dad might say yes, no, or maybe not now. Sometimes the very thing that I was asking for, my parents had already put it in layaway just waiting for my birthday or Christmas to get here.
This text challenges us to ask, seek, and knock. I love that the Word indicates that God is listening to us. He wants us to ask and He is committed to answering our prayers. God wants to hear from us! Remember, we have not because we ask not. (James 4:2)
Between now and Christmas Eve, don’t forget to ask the Holy Spirit. We can Pray, “Lord, bless me. But what if our prayer instead was, “Spirit, help me to love well, do good, and give it all away.”
In his book, Dangerous Prayers, Craig Groeschel (
www.lifechurch.tv) writes that the most dangerous prayers we can pray include: God search me…God break me…God use me…God send me. Those aren’t simple prayers. They can be life-changing.
I want to encourage you to find some time and listen to the following songs as a worship set. You may not know all of them, and that’s okay. Listen and allow yourself to be stirred. Ask God to reveal himself to you. Ask God to search you…break you…use you…send you. And then be ready to act. This is short reading today because I want you to worship, pray, and expect. God’s blessings on you as you embark on this time.
