Dear Friends,

So far 2020 has been like no other I can remember. As a mother of two M-DCPS students myself I have felt scared, frustrated, overwhelmed and even angry through these past few months. I am sure a lot of you feel like I do and have had to adjust to the many events that have changed our lives. But we must all move forward, with strength, love, and above all hope that our community has gotten stronger because of our collective and individual struggles.

Dream in Green, like many others, has adapted as best we could in order to continue our quality programs. The COVID-19 pandemic will not stop our commitment to raise community awareness on local and global environmental challenges while promoting environmental education and stewardship.

Join our mission and help us expand our reach in South Florida through educational programs by supporting Dream in Green .

Sincerely,
Barbara Martinez-Guerrero
Executive Director

Special Congratulations to an amazing local student for his inspiring entry to StudentCam, C-SPAN's annual national video documentary competition that encourages students to think critically about issues that affect our communities and nation. Nicholas was one of over 5,300 students representing 44 states and Washington, DC. Students addressed the theme, “What's Your Vision in 2020?” and were tasked with creating a 5-6 minute-long video on the issue they most want the presidential candidates to address.

Hurricane Preparedness Tips
Hurricane season is upon us! According to the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions , hurricanes are subject to a number of climate change-related influences including warmer sea surface temperatures that could intensify tropical storm wind speeds, and sea level rise that is likely to make future coastal storms, including hurricanes, more damaging.

At Dream in Green we want to provide you with some information and resources to help you stay safe this hurricane season.

  • Build a kit for you and your family that includes a supply of water and food for at least three days
  • Determine where and how you will evacuate safely
  • Continue to stay informed for crucial updates about hurricane season

For more information you can check out the resources provided from Miami-Dade County here.
