October 2021 - Issue I

A MESSAGE FROM THE NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

It has been my honor to be the Executive Director for the Dream Queen Foundation for the last month. I feel that with me at the helm we can accomplish all the visions we have had for the last several years. I have a lot of catching up to do and I am ready for the challenge. This last month has been joyful and divinely driven. I am here to serve you and will do my very best to support our women’s networking and Gals Lead needs. This next order of business is to keep you updated on all that is happening with the association and the foundation, which means we need our newsletter back. And away we go!

With love, passion and sincerity,

Maryanna Lanham

GALS LEAD CLUB PROGRAM

Our signature program for teens, Gals Lead, works with girls to develop and cultivate their self-confidence, authenticity, and leadership potential. Students gain the clarity and confidence needed to create intentional career paths they love - ones that align with their divine passion and purpose.

We will be running our Gals Lead program at Great Mills High School and Westlake High School for the 2021-2022 school year. The program is going in into its 6th year at Great Mills and it's 3rd year at Westlake High School.

Join us in welcoming our facilitators back for another amazing year.

Our goal is to launch the Gals Lead program in all remaining 15 high schools in Southern Maryland in the fall of 2022.

Charles County is leading the charge with amazing volunteers working on a grass roots movement to get our program added to their schools. We are calling it 5-15-25 – We are looking to be in 5 more schools in Charles County and will need 15 facilitators to volunteer and train and to raise $25,000 to support the clubs financially to cover books, journals, materials, food, and more. We need your support to fund the program and engage more teen girls in high schools across the Southern Maryland Tri-County Region.

If you are from a neighboring county and want to start a movement of your own please reach out to Maryanna at maryanna@dreamqueenfoundation.org.

The Learning Management System - our signature Gals Lead Teen Mentorship and Leadership Program will soon have virtual trainings. The facilitator trainings and guides will be accessed online, and the modules will have all their videos imbedded. We also have a space within the system for Facilitator Collaboration to share ideas, messages, news, and anything else with your facilitator community. We are also looking for feedback on how to improve the curriculum as you go through the process with your own club.

Thanks to everyone who join us for our "Home Run Rally" event on October 10th. Participants enjoyed a catered luncheon, raffles, silent auction, ball game and networking with others from 5 counties. Updates on the foundation and our signature girls club were the highlights of the event.

We reviewed our program, new membership levels for businesses, our online learning system for facilitators, and opportunities to help with our upcoming Annual Gals Lead Veterans Day Festival. We raised over $650.

Thank you to our donors from St. Mary's Business Partners, APOD Group and all of the volunteers for making the day a success.

The Dream Queen Women's Empowerment Networking Events were created as a special place for positive, passionate, purpose-filled women to come together to share personal and professional celebrations, set desires and intentions with a supportive community and gain business and personal connections and relationships that allow you to expand, execute and elevate your career, life and dreams. If you are interested in starting a networking group in your area, we are here to help, just send an email to info@yourdreamqueen.com and we help you get started.

DEAR ME MOVEMENT

We are starting the Dear Me Movement and need your help. Please record yourself giving advice to your 15-year-old self and text or email it to Maryanna at maryanna@dreamqueenfoundation.org to be added to our social media pages. Dear Me Movement is our way of expressing what we do in the Gals Lead clubs. We help these young women to learn many of the things we wish we knew at that age. Credit to Audrey Whelan for the inspiration and the name. Hashtags to come.

If you want to be involved in the movement reach out to Maryanna and she will add you to the social media PR committee to get started.

SHOUT OUT TO OUR VOLUNTEERS

We wouldn't be where we are today without all the help from our members. Thank you to everyone who has showed their support and getting this Foundation back up and running for all the women and teens in our community after this past year of uncertainty.
