Do you dream of living in a medieval village like

Monteleone d'Orvieto?

Dear readers,

As much as I treasure France, this past April when I arrived at Casa Leone, our fractional ownership property near Orvieto, I was instantly swept away by the feeling of belonging; a return to a property I’d fallen in love with a dozen years ago, warm cobblestone streets with neighbors offering a cheery “Buongiorno,” the sheer physical beauty of the countryside.

Feeling a bit of a traitor after so many years of studying French, living there, visiting favorite haunts and years of memories, nonetheless I set about looking at real estate again, with a view toward possibly owning my own slice of this welcoming land. I’m sure you’ve heard that there is a wave of expats with the same idea!

In the meantime, after enjoying Casa Leone for many years, two of the original co-owners of Casa Leone decided to buy places of their own. Scott and Anne recently turned to me to resell their share.

Maybe this is your chance to spend time “Under the Umbrian Sun?”

I wouldn’t blame you a bit. If you’re ready to take the next step, please reach out to me as soon as possible for a personal consultation.

Ciao for now,

Ginny

Casa Leone (House of the Lion)

Monteleone d'Orvieto

Discovering Umbria from your new home in Italy

lunch with friends in Orvieto

High above Fabro, the nearest town with rail links to Rome and to Florence, lies the picturesque medieval town of Monteleone d’Orvieto.

Casa Leone (House of the Lion) is in the old town with its medieval gate and pedestrian cobblestone streets. This spacious co-ownership home is perfect for family and friends as it sleeps 8-10. It is classically furnished and unusually bright and airy for a village home.

Your home away from home offers you a perfect window to the sights of Tuscany and Umbria!

Monteleone d'Orvieto

The town of Monteleone d’Orvieto was founded in 1052, as a castle guarding the northern boundaries of Orvieto. Steeped in history, on your stroll through the town you'll see the Church of SS, Apostoli Pietro e Paolo, the Church of SS. Crocifisso (17th C) and the Medieval Tower offering a panoramic view of Umbria, Tuscany and Lazio.

Our house sits just inside the old town gates where you'll also find original cobblestone streets, a bank, small grocery, a bar, church, and museum. The vista is lovely! You can easily walk to the newer part of town where locals meet for tapas and find 2 or 3 excellent restaurants, an olive oil producer, the local grocer and a school.

Background

Casa Leone (House of the Lion) was discovered a dozen years by two of my fractional owners from France who were helping me scout for possible new co-ownership opportunities in Italy.

And Mama Mia, the one we found is “Molta bene”! Not only will this spacious home sleep 8-10, but you will also discover a vaulted wine cellar underneath the ground level Taverna.

And the more you look, the more you see. From the wine cellar, a system of underground tunnels links many of the original dwellings in this remarkable historic village.

Enjoy a visit of CASA LEONE :

Searching for Italy is a travel and food show which follows American actor Stanley Tucci, as he travels around Italy visiting each region and exploring their cultures, cuisine and history.

I recently learned that Stanley visited "our" Seven Cafe in Monteleone d'Orvieto, home to our first Casa Leone fractional ownership property. Bravissimo!

Congratulations to Seven Restaurant Café brothers Andrea and Michele!
