Tergar Meditation Community is pleased to inform you that tickets have just gone on sale for Mingyur Rinpoche's July 13 program in New York, hosted by Tergar NYC. Mingyur Rinpoche will be joined by Dr. Richard Davidson for this special evening talk. We hope you can attend.
Dreaming, Dying, and Awareness
In Tibetan Buddhism, the challenges of life are used as opportunities to nurture awareness, compassion, and wisdom. The process of dying is said to present a unique and potent opportunity to awaken. The key to taking advantage of this opportunity lies in two of the most common experiences in our lives: the states of deep sleep and dreaming.
For more than a thousand years, meditation practices that enable us to explore these states of consciousness have been valued as profound methods for transforming the mind and preparing for the moment of death. In this evening talk, Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche will offer teachings on sleeping, dreaming, and ways to approach death with dignity, awareness, and care. Neuroscientist Dr. Richard Davidson will offer a scientific perspective based on his research on methods to promote human flourishing, including meditation. The talk will include a question and answer session and is suitable for anyone with an interest in meditation and Tibetan Buddhism.
