“But for you who revere my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in its wings." Malachi 4:2

Dreary Days

When the days are dreary and the weather is still cold, spring seems a long way off. It is said that although February has the fewest days, it feels like the longest month. Every now and then a few snowflakes, or a burst of sunlight comes our way, but for the most part it is cloudy and brown.

How to turn our minds away from these short days that feel long? One option is to go south where the sun is warmer and seems to stay out longer. But most of us can’t do that. Another option is to remember that the Son of God can always shine in our hearts.

Did you know that Jesus has been called the Sun of Righteousness? “But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings,” from Malachi 4:2. The imagery of the rising sun represents Jesus bringing light and healing to the world, signifying his role as the source of righteousness and salvation, dispelling the darkness of sin just as the sun illuminates the earth.

On a cold, windy February day, it is a good thing to remember. Just like the sun is always there, even when hidden by clouds, so too is the Son of God. He is always there, ready and able to brighten up your days with the promise and hope of Spring.
