"Dancing in the Street"
Click here to open the dress rehearsal schedule for your MANDATORY DRESS REHEARSAL at CGPAC. Let's go over a few details:

  • These are DRESS REHEARSALS and your student should be wearing every piece of their costume including hair accessories, etc. Their hair should be in the style indicated on their info sheet (here's a link if you need to review).
  • Some advanced level classes will have a rehearsal on Tu or Wed AND a second rehearsal on Thursday. All lower level classes will only have one rehearsal 6/1-6/3.
  • We will hand a printed copy to students over the next week, but wanted you to have this information ASAP.
NEW INFORMATION: Parent Viewing at Dress Rehearsal!
Each performer will be allowed ONE GUEST for these in-studio dress rehearsals. It is important to have an adult attend with the student since it will be our one face-to-face time to speak to parents with the students before the recital. We will review call times, and actual performance day details. Please plan to have someone (ONLY ONE) attend dress rehearsal with your performer.

These are all in the classroom at CGPAC and are full DRESS REHEARSALS. As explained earlier, these are MANDATORY. Please plan ahead and DO NOT BE LATE!

In the next week we will add the call times/stage rehearsal times for each class for show day. Those dress rehearsals will happen in the 45 min before each performance. Those columns will be added to this schedule by May 28th. For now, just plan to need to be at each of your performances about 45 minutes early, already in full costume.
The following is all repeat information:
We have been sending home recital costumes this week. Here are some important details for you to know.
  • Please have your dancer try on their costume, and read the instruction sheet to see how to wear the hair accessory or any other extra piece included. Adjust straps if needed.
  • DO NOT OPEN TIGHTS!!!! Please check the height and weight chart first, and if needed, please bring into the front office to trade for a bigger or smaller size. We will give everyone the same size as their costume, but some long-legged kids need a size bigger in tights!
  • Hang the costume with accessories. If your costume has a tutu, please hang upside down and use steam (steamer or hot shower!) to help coax the tutu to straighten out. You will need to lightly pull on it to help it get shaped correctly! Do not let your dancer wear it (meaning for fun) until it's required for class/rehearsal/show. We don't have extras, and that includes accessories.
  • Put your name in everything! Initials on labels work great.
  • BOYS! Miss Amy will be contacting you about your costume details.

If your student was absent for class this week, please come by to pick up their costume so you are ready for Costume Wearing Week!

Costume Wearing Week: May 23-29

All dancers will bring their costume to wear for our last class.
We need to make sure everything is ready for dress rehearsal, and wearing it to practice in class is the best solution. Some classes have "skirt choreo" and will need to practice that, too. Since we haven't done this before, here is our plan.
  • Each dancer will come to class May 23-29 with a laundry basket (or similar tote)
  • In the basket will be their dance bag, and costume MINUS ACCESSORIES. Please keep hair accessories, etc at home so they don't get lost!
  • They will come in, take off street shoes in the lobby, carry their basket to their classroom, and get out their dance shoes and put them on in the classroom.
  • When it's time to practice their dance (the last 15 min of class), the teacher (and possibly assistants) will help them get into their dance costume. They will put it on OVER their class leotard.
  • At the end of class, each dancer will remain in their dance costume, take off their dance shoes and place them in their basket, go to the front lobby to get their street shoes back on, and bring their dance basket back out to you to go back home still wearing their costume.
  • If they have multiple classes in a row, they will take off their first costume and travel with the basket to the second class. Make sure they have both costumes if this is the case!

Why are we adding this? We have several students unable to participate in recital, so this is a way for us to have them wear their costumes and dance with their classmates, even if they are home on Zoom. Also, we normally wear costumes for 2 different dress rehearsals before performance day, this year we only have one. We need two to make sure we are used to dancing in them.
