As we come to a close of celebrating Dress for Success Southern Nevada's 10-Year Anniversary, we look forward to a new decade of building an even stronger, more robust organization to serve women across the Valley.

I am proud of the work that has been done since I began this journey 11 years ago and I am grateful for the 7 years of service Paula Lawrence contributed as Executive Director. She has been instrumental to our development and success and we are all appreciative for her unwavering commitment to accomplishing our mission. As we pivot to focusing on growth and transformation, our committed and diligent board of directors is now working to ensure a smooth transition for our clients, community partners, referral agencies, volunteers and employees.

As Dress for Success Southern Nevada is on the search for its next leader, we welcome Interim Executive Director Lezlie Young. Even prior to joining us in this role, she has been a proud supporter, volunteer and member of the Little Black Dress Club. A Las Vegas native, Lezlie is a more than 20-year veteran of the gaming and hospitality industry with extensive operations and guest service experience. She served as the General Manager and Vice President for many of the finest resorts in our city, including The Westin Las Vegas, SLS Las Vegas and The Mansion and Skylofts at MGM Grand, to name a few. Lezlie is supporting the organization through her consulting firm, LcY Solutions LLC, and utilizing her experience leading high performing teams, refining business processes, improving financial results, and driving strategies to enhance our client and volunteer experience, which will prove valuable during this transition. We anticipate that Lezlie will assist through the onboarding of the new Executive Director to ensure that the necessary support and resources are available during a critical time for anyone starting a new job opportunity.

As we begin this new chapter, I look toward the future with confidence in how many more lives for which we can be a catalyst of change. I thank you for your ongoing support of our mission and we encourage you to come down to the boutique to say hello, drop off your professional attire and accessory donations, or volunteer. And we hope to see you at the annual Champagne Luncheon and Success Showcase at the Four Seasons on Friday, May 1, 2020, mark your calendar!

What A Success! Thank You!
"It's a Halston Holiday"

The shoppers lined up 1/2 hour before we opened to shop the 25+ racks of Halston Heritage that we featured in our "It's a Halston Holiday" warehouse event. 

Shoppers were able to purchase "almost perfect" Halston dresses, sweaters, cocktail dresses, ball gowns, shoes, and handbags for between $25-$100, which was a fraction of their ticket price.

The monies raised from this very successful one-day event all goes back into our programs and servicing our clients.

A huge thank you to all the volunteers who came out to assist with set up, selling, putting away stock, and security! We couldn't have done it without all of you!!!

Missed this fabulous event? We will be featuring more of the Halston at our next Shop for Success event this Spring! We are excited for our bigger, better location!!!! More details to come soon!

Favorite Part of Volunteering
I assist with programs such as the Power Lunch and events such as the Referral Agency Open House and Shop for Success Semi-Annual Sale. My favorite part of volunteering is working with the staff, other volunteers, and the ladies we serve. It is fun and challenging, but mostly rewarding.

Most Memorable Experience
A few months back at a Power Lunch, we worked with the ladies on basic interview skills.  I helped each of the them write and then refine an elevator pitch on themselves. 

I worked in high-tech sales and management for 30 years. I am semi-retired and moved to Las Vegas 4 years ago. I now do a bit of consulting.

Favorite Hobbies
I enjoy golf but am not very good at it.  I love to travel and am a big Vegas Golden Knights fan!

Interesting Facts
Just last month I went to Uganda, Africa with a non-profit organization called Children's Hope Chest. It was an amazing experience.

Tracie Young

Our New Volunteer Development Manager

 As the Volunteer Development Manager, Tracie will be responsible for recruitment, training and retention of our valuable volunteers. She will lead boutique inventory and stylist processes as well as develop new initiatives for our continued success.  
With over 25 years of expertise in high-end customer sales, team leadership, merchandising and event planning, her talents are sure to add value to our growing organization. Tracie is the
Founder and President of Confab Confetti, LLC, a membership-based Sisterhood Society that empowers women to thrive.   Prior to that, she led a long and successful career with Nordstrom as a National Events Buyer, Regional Merchandise Manager and as a Department Manager.
Ms. Anderson studied fashion merchandising at Studio 7 Career College in Covina, California.
Tracie first became introduced to Dress for Success Southern Nevada as a speaker at a DFSSN Power Lunch in 2019. She inspired our clients with her conversation about empowerment, the presentation titled 'EMPOWER HER' (Elevate our Mindsets and Position Ourselves With Everything Required!) was very well received.  She has continued to give of her time as a volunteer in the warehouse and special events. We are excited to have her on the team.  
When asked why Dress for Success Southern Nevada is an organization she supports, she shared this:

This highly-anticipated charity event will be a vibrant afternoon highlighted by a 3-course plated luncheon, champagne toast, silent auction, and fashion show.
