Isabella Cardenas' Interview with Jane Savoie
I had the wonderful pleasure to interview Jane Savoie; the amazing rider, writer, coach, speaker, and ballroom dancer.

When she was in her early twenties she began aspiring to ride for the United States equestrian team. When she set this large and impressive goal she was riding at first level, had no horse, and no money to buy a horse. Despite all these "facts" Jane would not let them deter her from her dream. She would not let herself make excuses for why she could not compete or why she couldn't make the team. To Jane, one of her biggest achievements was not letting the "facts that were stacked against her" get the better of her.

Jane is not only an amazing talented rider and coach but she is also a very accomplished writer. She has written many successful books, her first book, "That Winning Feeling" being her most successful one. This book also happens to be Jane's favorite as well, because of the overwhelming response she received. She was able to reach so many people through her book, and received letter upon leter telling her how much she inspired them. This also is what encouraged Jane to continue learning and exploring rider psychology. She wanted to help all riders and athletes perform to the best of their ability.

As the interview went on, we touched on the subconscious mind and the way you can instill and train positive attitudes and habits. She talked about how the subconscious mind cannot differentiate a lie from the truth. For Jane, she used to have horrible show nerves; she overcame those nerves by telling anyone and everyone that she loved showing and was never nervous. She of course knew she was lying, but as the months went on she came to realize that she really did love showing. She no longer felt nervous and sick but rather excited and elated and could not wait for her next show. She calls this technique "programming your subconscious mind".

Her outlook on life and any challenges that arise leave you awestruck.
She has shown me that despite adversity you can always keep a positive attitude through your own willpower.
