Lendon's Youth Dressage Festival - Saugerties, NY - Roving Trainer
We welcome Nicole DelGiorno as our Roving Trainer at LYDF.

Horsemanship starts with honoring the horse - his strengths, weaknesses, habits, nature, experiences, anxieties and joys. From there, a training and management program can be developed that leads to a harmonious partnership. This commitment to the horse has driven Nicole DelGiorno's approach to educating dressage riders of all ages. With the belief that empathy is at the core of mastery, she strives to foster a curiosity and love of the horse that will allow her students to navigate any obstacle they may encounter.

Competitors coming without a trainer are given preference. Competitors who might need help with warmups because of ride time conflicts can also sign up.

To sign up:  Email Lendon Gray in advance (best option) or use the sign up sheet located at the Volunteer Booth. Times are not guaranteed.
LYDF New York - Stable Management Challenge
Sunday, July 14, 2019

The two top scorers in the Written Test in each of the age groups for ages 11 through 21 will be invited to participate in a practical Stable Management test.  A list of riders qualifying for this competition will be posted outside of the Show Office on Saturday.

This year's Stable Management Challenge will consist of a list of scenarios and skills. Each competitor in the Challenge will be asked to answer questions about a particular topic, identify items in a practical situation or demonstrate skills chosen at random from the list below.

The list is being provided so that you may study and be prepared to the best of your ability to respond to the Challenge chosen for you from the list.

Lucie Reford's Interview with Tina Irwin
I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Canadian dressage rider, Tina Irwin.

Before shows, she sticks to her regular routine in order to keep herself calm. In addition to this, she works with a sports psychologist to maximize her performance.

I asked Tina about her riding role models. She told me she has always looked up to anybody who is a real horse person, specifically Isabell Werth, Carl Hester and Charlotte Dujardin. Tina is inspired by how they take horses who are not naturally impressive and build them into the most talented horses in the world.

To finish out the interview we talked about her best piece of advice. Tina is a big believer that surrounding yourself with good people makes all the difference. For her, those people happen to be her husband and two children as well as her barn family. Her support system makes all the difference in her riding.
TEAM Clinic Experiences - by Phoebe Keliher

Scooby and I went to our fourth TEAM clinic, third with Lendon Gray these past couple of days; the 25th and 26th. We had two great rides and I learned so much during the lessons and lectures. I was very pleased to have finally gotten my polo wraps 'Lendon approved'! I wrote a little about what I learned from the lectures and rides.

Overall the TEAM clinic experience was -once again- amazing. Everytime I ride with Lendon I learn so much from my rides, the lectures, and watching the other riders. Thanks to everyone who makes the clinics happen; they are such wonderful learning opportunities.
