Drive Safe Advocacy Day Fact Sheet

We are meeting at the Central United Methodist Church 215 N. Capitol Ave., Lansing, Michigan 517-485-9477

Getting to Lansing if you take the bus:

• There will be two pick up/drop off locations: The first one will be at Our Mother of Perpetual Help at 13500 Oak Park Blvd, Oak Park at 7:00 a.m.
• The second one will be at the Spencer Rd. exit for Brighton at the Park and Ride Lot at I-96 and US-23 at 8:00a.m.

Parking - for those not taking the Bus

Across the street and north one block from the Central United Methodist Church is the North Capitol parking structure. Here are the details:

North Capitol Parking Structure

$3.00/hour with a $15.00 max daily rate Cash or credit card.

When You Arrive at the Central United Methodist Church:

• Please arrive by 9:00 a.m.
• Enter in the front entrance on Capitol Avenue.
• There will be a Strangers No Longer check in table where you will receive printed materials for the day.

Here is how our Drive Safe Advocacy Day will work:

• We will arrive in Lansing by 9:00 a.m. and meet at Central United Methodist Church at 215 N. Capitol Ave.
• Half of us will attend the Senate session at 10:00 a.m. Half will attend the House session at 1:30 p.m.
• In between these two sessions, we will be visiting legislators to deliver packages which will include a small gift.
• Lunch will be provided. 

Final Activities from 2:30 to 3:00 p.m.

• At 2:30 p.m. all should be gathered the church.
• We would like to take a group picture - like we did last year.
• We'll discuss the day and suggest next steps.
• We will adjourn at 3:00 p.m. The bus will leave the Capitol and make the two stops for people to pick up their cars.

Your Free Will Donation is Requested

The bus will cost Strangers No Longer $1550.00. Each box lunch will cost about $15.00. Strangers No Longer would appreciate your free will donation to help defray the costs.
