Drive Safe Advocacy Day Fact Sheet

We will meet at the Central United Methodist Church at 215 N. Capitol Ave., Lansing. Check-in begins at 8:30. The program begins at 9:15 so we would like everyone there by 9:00.

If you are taking the bus:

• There will be two pick up/drop off locations: The first one will be at Our Mother of Perpetual Help at 13500 Oak Park Blvd, Oak Park at 6:45 a.m. Please plan to get there by 6:45 because the bus will leave promptly at 7:00.
• The second one will be at the Spencer Rd. exit for Brighton at the Park and Ride Lot at I-96 and US-23 at 8:00a.m. Please plan to be there by 7:45.

If you are driving to Lansing and parking your car:

The North Capitol parking structure is across the street and north one block from the Central United Methodist Church. Here are the details:

$3.00/hour with a $15.00 max daily rate Cash or credit card.

Please allow plenty of time for traffic problems and parking. We need everyone at the church by 9:00.

When You Arrive at the Central United Methodist Church:

• Enter in the front entrance on Capitol Avenue.
• There will be a Strangers No Longer check in table where you will receive printed materials for the day.
• There are no stairs to worry about.

Here is how our Drive Safe Advocacy Day will work:

• At 9:15 we will kick-off our day with guest speakers.
• Together, we will attend the Senate general session at 10:00 a.m. and the House general session at 1:30 p.m.
• In between these two sessions, we will be visiting legislators to deliver packages and showing our support for this critical cause.
• Lunch will be provided. 

Final Activities from 2:30 to 3:00 p.m.

• At 2:30 p.m. all should be gathered the church.
• We would like to take a group picture - like we did last year.
• We'll discuss the day and suggest next steps.
• We will adjourn at 3:00 p.m. The bus will leave the Capitol and make the two stops for people to pick up their cars.

Your Free Will Donation is Requested

The bus is costing Strangers No Longer $1690.00. Each box lunch will cost about $15.00. Strangers No Longer would appreciate your free will donation to help defray the costs.
