LIHEAP reopened September 1st and helps eligible households with low income pay for home energy services (heating, gas, propane and electricity). LIHEAP application period runs until May 31, 2023, or until funding is exhausted. Agency partner North Shore Senior Center is an intake site for LIHEAP and may be reached at 847-784-6000. Contact CEDA 800-571-2332 for information about additional intake sites in the area. 

U.S. Passport processing times have now changed. Routine Processing: 7-10 weeks. Expedited Processing: 4-6 weeks. For more information, see the Passport page on the Township website

2022 State of Illinois Tax Rebates Under the Illinois Family Relief Plan passed by the Illinois House and Senate, one-time individual income and property tax rebates will be issued to taxpayers who meet certain income requirements. Rebates will begin being issued the week of September 12. For more information, visit our resource page at tax.illinois.gov/rebates.

Help Illinois Families Energy Bill Assistance Program  All families who meet the criteria and provide required documentation are eligible to receive bill assistance for natural gas, propane, and electricity. Link to helpillinoisfamilies.com or call 1-833-711-0374 for assistance in 30 languages.

Citizens Utility Board (CUB) will conduct a free review of your gas, electric, and telecom bills to find ways for you to save! Call their toll-free hotline 8AM - 4PM Monday-Friday at 1-800-669-5556 or read more here.

Home Weatherization Repairs may be available for eligible single or multi-dweller homes based on the need and income level. Eligibility and more information is available online at CEDA.

Cook County Legal Aid for Housing and Debt (CCLAHD) Services are available for housing and debt problems at no cost to Cook County residents and property owners regardless of income, language, or immigration status. Hotline is 855-956-5763 and lines are open Monday-Friday 9AM - 4PM. https://www.cookcountylegalaid.org/

Health Insurance Coverage for Immigrants aged 42+ ineligible for federal Medicaid (earning less than 138% of the Federal Poverty Level, e.g. $1,563 per month for one person) have three ways to apply: online at abe.illinois.gov; via identified health centers here; or with an enrollment assister here.

Right now, the state holds over 3.5 billion in unclaimed assets. 1 in 4 people who search the website, find unclaimed money through the iCash Program.

The BrightStart Program Holds Morningstar gold medal since 2017 (Top Ranking) and has some of the lowest costs of any 529 Plan.


Good News! An Illinois Treasurer's Office representative will be at the Fall Fest Community Wellness Fair on October 22nd helping to search unclaimed money, provide information on Bright Start, and more.

"Race To Our Place" 5k Community Walk 10:30AM to build community awareness and connections with teens and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities building meaningful lives in Township. Meet @GillsonPark at the Beach, Wilmette. Join Supervisor Schnitzer Eisenberg for the 5k walk, followed by socializing and a food truck, with all activities organized by Our Place of New Trier ending by 1PM. The event is open to all.

13 Grief Group Series Begins 7-8:30PM through Dec 8. Grief Groups provide a safe and supportive environment for adults who have experienced the death of a spouse, friend, parent, partner, or other loved one. Both groups cover the same information. The programs are facilitated by experienced counselors and available to participants at no cost. Everyone is welcome. High School Guys Group

This group offers an opportunity for male-identified high school students to socialize in a safe space and develop interpersonal skills and peer relationships. The group will be in-person at Youth Services plus a couple of virtual sessions from 6:30PM to 8:00PM on Thursdays from September 22nd through December 8th.Contact Tim Enarson for more information at tim.enarson@ysgn.org.

Elementary Adventures Social Skills Group

Elementary Adventures is designed to support the social-emotional needs of children in 3rd to 5th grade. The primary goal is to help children as they learn to inhibit their impulses, increase their attention span, build connections with others and develop coping strategies to navigate challenging situations. The program takes place in-person at Youth Services on Tuesdays from 6:00PM to 7:00PM from October 11th through December 6th.
