Unexpected Joy and Surprise
Sarah and Abraham get some news...they are going to have a baby!! Very exciting...until you know that Sarah is in her 90's and Abraham is 100. And no, it is not some Bible times thing about how age is calculated, God means it to be a huge surprise. So maybe you're not going to have a baby in old age, but that doesn't mean God will not bring something to birth in your life!

Holy and mighty God, help us to be open to the work you may call us to join, with our time, with our resources, with whatever we have. We are following the One who broke the barrier between humanity and sin, between life and death. In Jesus' name, Amen.

WONDERING...
REAL QUESTIONS FROM REAL PEOPLE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT GLC
What do we expect might come from conversations about race and racism? Again, I'm grateful for ALL the feedback I've received and encourage you to continue the conversation! A GLC member shared a story with me about being in a zoom meeting about diversity at work. They were talking about micro-aggressions . In the group of more than 20, there was one woman and one person of color. The member said, 'At one point I felt I had to point out that micro-aggressions might be a moot point considering our lack of diversity.' Later, the person of color at the meeting sent an email thanking him for not making him be the one to state the obvious. Did it change the issues around diversity in the company? Probably not. Did the person have to join a protest march or even agree with the protesters? Of course not. But it did raise awareness in that group of people and made one person feel seen in that moment. That sounds like Gospel space.
