County Board Voted to Allow Open Burning in Unincorporated Lake County Until 10/15/2020 With Restrictions
|
|
Open Burning Allowed on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays in Unincorporated Lake County through October 14th
The Lake County Board recently voted to enact a modified emergency ordinance which temporarily allows open burning in unincorporated Lake County from sunrise to sunset on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The ordinance is effective August 11 through October 14, 2020.
An emergency ordinance had previously been in effect that temporarily banned open burning in the unincorporated areas at all times and on all days of the week due to COVID-19. In recognition of the upcoming landscape maintenance season as leaves begin to fall, Lake County is temporarily permitting open burning on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from sunrise to sunset.
Recreational fires that are no larger than 3’ x 3’ x 3’ used for warming, cooking, and other recreational purposes are still permitted on all days of the week. Burning garbage, refuse, or construction materials remains prohibited.

|
|
Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White announced that the expiration date for valid driver’s licenses held by Illinois drivers who are 75 years of age or older has been extended for a period of one year past the licenses’ current 2020 expiration date. As a result, drivers age 75 and older with a 2020 driver’s license expiration date do not need to visit a facility to renew their driver’s license until shortly before their birthday in 2021.

Hike Lake County Forest Preserves
|
|
Like to Hike?
Enjoy fall breezes and autumn colors while exploring designated Hike Lake County trails. At each preserve, look for the Hike Lake County logo at the trailhead to get you started on the right route.
How It Works
Complete just seven of the hikes between August 15 and November 30, and you'll earn a commemorative shield for your walking stick, or a zipper pull, (while supplies last). Use the Travel Log to record each hike. Every hiker needs their own. Bicycling or horseback riding do not count toward the program.
Let your canine companion join in the fun and complete the hikes with you. Record their name on your Travel Log and your dog will receive a commemorative dog tag (up to three dogs). You can even purchase an optional Hike Lake County dog collar to hang it on.
To receive your free dog tag, zipper pull or commemorative shield for your walking stick (while supplies last), submit your Travel Log online, bring it to the Hike Lake County Center, or mail it with a self-addressed stamped envelope to Lake County Forest Preserves, 1899 West Winchester Road, Libertyville, IL 60048 by January 31, 2021.

Fremont Property Owners Only Have Until September 8, 2020 to Appeal Their Assessment
|
|
Message from Fremont Assessor, Joe Herchenbach
Please review your assessment promptly and If you find an inaccuracy on the blue card, call my office at 847 223-2846 so that we can discuss the issue. As your local assessor, I want to work with you if there are inaccuracies and save you the inconvenience and expense of hiring an attorney to file an appeal.
If you have evidence that you feel proves you are over assessed, please call our office at 847-223-2846. If we remedy your concerns at our Fremont Township Assessor's office, there will be no need to appeal. Many people wait until they receive their property tax bill to contest the assessment, but that is too late.
Make sure you are receiving all the exemptions you are entitled to! The General Homestead exemption is for a primary residence. The Senior Homestead Exemption is for homeowners 65 and older on a primary residence. These exemptions can represent significant savings.
Due to COVID we are encouraging discussion by phone or email, or can arrange to speak one-on-one by appointment only (masks are required). Our staff is here to assist you in person by appointment. Please call first at 847 223-2846. In order to meet the CDC guidelines we are limiting the number of people in our office at one time.
Sincerely, Joe Herchenbach
Fremont Township Assessor

While our food pantry use is up, so are our donations. Thank you to Jewel on Maple for keeping the donation box in the front of the store.
We are supplying our food pantry clients and low income seniors with fresh produce from our garden and local gardens each week. Thank you for being such caring neighbors.
