GET READY TO SAY GOODBYE TO EXACT CHANGE TOLL MACHINES
CFX is committed to building and maintaining a mobility network that meets and exceeds the transportation needs of CFX customers, stakeholders, partners and the Central Florida region. At the August Board Meeting, CFX Chief of Technology/Operations Jim Greer presented an update on CFX’s project to convert all of the E-PASS automated coin machines to all electronic tolling. The conversion process is planned to begin in 2024 and no plaza worker jobs will be lost as a result.

All-electronic tolling enables cashless toll collection through transponders and license plates, eliminating the need to stop and pay tolls with cash. Customers who prefer to replenish their account with cash will continue to have other cash payment options, including the Reload Lanes. We encourage cash-preferred customers to get a FREE E-PASS. Order your E-PASS online and get it in a matter of days.

Upcoming Public Meeting: SR 408/Tampa Avenue Interchange
CFX, in partnership with the City of Orlando, is planning an interchange on SR 408 at Tampa Avenue near Camping World Stadium. CFX will hold a public meeting to display preliminary design plans, answer questions, and get stakeholders’ input. The in-person meeting will be held on September 1 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Jones High School. The online version of the meeting will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m and participants can register here.

The expressway improvements include a full interchange with new ramps from Tampa Avenue to eastbound SR 408 and from westbound SR 408 to Tampa Avenue, as well as an additional lane on eastbound SR 408 from John Young Parkway to Orange Blossom Trail. New sidewalks, lighting, and redesigned crosswalks along Tampa Avenue will improve pedestrian safety.

PARTNER UPDATE
New Wekiva Parkway Section Eases Commute Along State Road 46 Corridor
The Florida Department of Transportation opened the Wekiva Parkway (State Road 429) from near Orange Boulevard to Longwood-Markham Road in August. The new 2-mile stretch helps to fulfill the promise to provide a largely elevated parkway option to SR 46 in the Wekiva River Protection Area. The elevated parkway will enhance safety by separating through traffic from local traffic, as well as reducing vehicle conflicts with wildlife. The parkway is also making travel easier and reducing commute times.

The Wekiva Parkway is completing Central Florida’s beltway, while helping to protect wildlife and other natural resources surrounding the Wekiva River. The Wekiva River is a National Wild and Scenic River and Florida Outstanding Waterway. With 23 of the 25 miles now open, the entire $1.6 billion Wekiva Parkway is expected to be open to traffic in 2023. For more information visit WekivaParkway.com
