Hundreds of Poinciana residents met with CFX this summer at local events to share updates on the Southport Connector Expressway PD&E Study. The proposed 15-mile expressway will improve connections to I-4 and Florida’s Turnpike, widen Cypress Parkway to six lanes, and make local road improvements to help ease congestion for daily commutes and short trips.
From government resource fairs to back-to-school expos, residents learned about the project in English and Spanish while sharing their traffic-related experiences with the project team. These conversations have guided the project study, ensuring the community’s needs are heard and reflected.
Looking ahead, the Southport Connector Expressway will be a part of a regional network supporting Poinciana and Osceola County’s rapid growth. Additional plans for this project include upgrading eight intersections, creating a multi-use trail, and adding a bridge structure to preserve community views residents know and love.
We look forward to continuing the conversation. Visit MovePoinciana.com to take the traffic congestion survey and learn more about the Southport Connector Expressway – including upcoming opportunities to weigh in.
