In December, CFX reached a significant project milestone on the signature SR 528/SR 436 interchange improvement project. Beam installation was completed on two bridge locations as CFX continues to transform the existing loop ramps into seven flyover bridges. Once complete, the bridges will provide smoother, uninterrupted access to and from Orlando International Airport (OIA). The two bridges will transform the existing loop ramps into flyover bridges.
The $118 million project will also add an additional travel lane in each direction of SR 528 between Conway Road and Goldenrod Road, and will feature enhanced aesthetics such as tiered planter walls, and updated signage and lighting. In addition, CFX’s bold sustainable landscape design will feature native plants and create a welcoming gateway to Central Florida for visitors coming through OIA.

CFX held the final virtual public meeting on November 18 for Segment 4 of the SR 417 Corridor Widening Project, which runs from Boggy Creek Road to Narcoossee Road. At the meeting, participants viewed the proposed locations of a sound wall, a fly-through video demonstration of the roadway design, and a virtual tour comparing the existing roadway and configurations with the proposed improvements. For more information and updates on this project, click here.

|
On January 20 and 27, CFX will host virtual public meetings for Segment 3 and Segment 1, respectively, of the SR 429 Corridor Widening Projects. Registration information and future public meeting announcements will be posted to CFX’s Meeting Calendar once details have been finalized.

Texas U-Turns Fully Operational at Michigan Street and Kaley Avenue Interchanges
Two recently completed I-4 Ultimate improvements in the downtown Orlando area enable motorists to move from one side of Interstate 4 (I-4) to the other without entering an intersection. A Texas U-turn, also known as a Texas Turnaround, allows drivers traveling on a one-way frontage road parallel to the interstate to make a U-turn onto a frontage road in the opposite direction without waiting at a traffic signal.
