JULY 2025 | ISSUE 110

CFX offered the first electronic toll transponder in Florida more than 30 years ago. It remains the only one in the state with a Volume Toll Savings Program, saving customers up to 25% in toll discounts on CFX expressways each month.

And, that’s not the only reason more customers choose E-PASS.

For many loyal customers, our award-winning customer service team rises above the rest. Our local team is fluent in English and Spanish and is able to resolve any issue quickly and efficiently. One customer shared, “Thanks for making my experiences easy and hassle free.”

We’re proud to share that CFX has been honored with the 2025 Expressway Authority Project of the Year Award from the Florida Transportation Builders Association (FTBA) and the Transportation and Expressway Authority Membership of Florida (TEAMFL) for our SR 417 Widening Project from International Drive to John Young Parkway!

This groundbreaking project, delivered in partnership with Hubbard Construction Company, TLP Engineering Consultants, Inc., and CDM Smith enhances safety and mobility for nearly 86,000 daily drivers and introduces Central Florida’s first Flex Lanes to improve traffic flow during emergencies.

This 21-mile corridor is just the beginning as we further enhance regional connectivity for Central Florida's future. Thank you to our project partners and the communities we serve. Together, we're building smarter, safer roads. To learn more, click here

If you have friends or family coming to beautiful Central Florida for a summer vacation, show them some extra hospitality by encouraging them to get a free Visitor Toll Pass (VTP). The pass can save them up to 80% on Florida toll roads and bridges, guaranteeing them the lowest rate across the state.

The Visitor Toll Pass is available at vending machines for pickup and return at Orlando International Airport and works with most car rental companies – just be sure to decline the rental car toll option. The VTP is free to use – no hidden or extra fees. Tell your friends and family to download the Visitor Toll Pass app in the Apple App Store or Google Play store to get started.

After nearly four years of construction, CFX has reached a major milestone – adding a new travel lane in each direction to SR 417 between International Drive and State Road 528. Expanding the expressway from four to six lanes is the latest CFX investment in transportation and technologies to address rapid growth and to enhance the quality of life in Central Florida.

With about 86,000 vehicles using this stretch daily, the SR 417 improvements will help the increasing number of drivers reach their destinations more quickly and easily. The 21 miles of improvements included: adding a new flyover at Landstar Boulevard, enhancing several ramps to and from SR 417, and replacing the tolling system at the Narcoossee Road ramp plaza with cashless technology. Other improvements included:

  • New Wrong-Way Driving Detection devices to enhance safety
  • 30 noise walls to reduce traffic noise in nearby communities
  • More than 200 new overhead signs and intelligent transportation system devices to enhance operations
  • More than 1,000 new light poles for easier navigation and safer travel

In addition, CFX implemented Flex Lanes - a new incident management initiative. When an incident closes one or more of the right lanes, the new technology installed in the form of dynamic signs is activated to indicate which lanes are open or closed. A new, wider median shoulder is then opened to keep traffic moving.

$440M of your toll dollars were put back into the community to provide better access and easier travel to the Orlando metro area, airports, theme parks and more.

Strong Community Turnout for SR 417 Sanford Airport Connector PD&E Study Public Hearing

CFX held a Project Development & Environment (PD&E) Study Public Hearing on July 15 and 17 for the proposed SR 417 Sanford Airport Connector, drawing strong participation from community members and stakeholders. Public engagement was strong, with over 100 participants attending in person and virtually, providing opportunities to share comments and submit feedback to the study team.

Community input from public agencies, public meetings, project area stakeholders, engineering evaluations and refinements developed the Preferred Alternative for the SR 417 Sanford Airport Connector PD&E Study. The Preferred Alternative includes a connection between SR 417 and East Lake Mary Boulevard near Red Cleveland Boulevard that would meet the project’s purpose and need.

The proposed project has been studied since 2003 by various agency in the region and is part of CFX’s ongoing commitment to improving mobility and supporting economic development in the region.

🌧️ Before you hit the road, keep these rainy season driving tips in mind to stay safe behind the wheel:

  • 🚗 Check your tires – Make sure your tires have enough tread to grip wet roads and prevent hydroplaning. Worn tires can increase your stopping distance and risk.
  • Slow it down – Rain makes roads slick fast. Reduce your speed and drive with caution to maintain control.
  • 💡 Headlights on – Even during the day, turn on your headlights so other drivers can see you clearly through the rain. Only use your hazard lights in extremely low visibility.
  • 📏 Give more space – Extend your following distance to at least six seconds to allow extra room for braking on wet pavement.
  • Take a break if needed – If rain is too heavy and visibility drops, safely pull off at the next exit or rest area and wait it out.

Every trip matters. A few extra precautions go a long way in helping you and your loved ones travel safely on CFX roads.
