THIS WEEK IN DOVER

The General Assembly returned to session this week after a two-week break. Some bills that the State Chamber is following saw movement, including HS 1 for HB 105 (pay transparency), which was released from the House Labor Committee and has been placed on the House Ready List. HB 135 was also introduced, which establishes certain protections for individuals experiencing homelessness.

Next week, the State Chamber will host its Small Business Day in Dover event on Thursday, May 15 at Legislative Hall. The following week, on Wednesday, May 21, the End-of-Session Policy Conference will be held at Delaware State University in Dover. Both are great opportunities to learn about the key issues that could impact your business before the General Assembly adjourns on June 30th. Read more >

At the End-of-Session Policy Conference, Representative Melanie Ross Levin will walk us through House Substitute 1 for House Bill 105, which would require salary or wage ranges to be included in job advertisements and mandates recordkeeping of job descriptions and compensation histories for each employee. This session is essential for employers navigating HR regulations and balancing evolving expectations around pay transparency with the operational realities of running a business. Register >
