Upcoming October Events
Wheels for Warmth
Volunteers Still Needed!
We are still looking for volunteers on Saturday, October 29th to help with:
  • Guiding customers through the process of selecting and purchasing tires (don't worry if you don't know much about tires - we have knowledgeable people on site who can help answer any questions that may arise).
  • Cleanup after the tire sale (this part won't take long if we can get a few more hands on deck).

All help is greatly appreciated!
Halloween Parade
Only 3 Sundays Left to Build Our Float!
We are working on our float every Sunday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Parade Headquarters at Casella Waste's garage, located at 20 Belden Road in Rutland. If you can help out for a portion of the time, or even just an hour, we appreciate any help we can get. Please join us if you can!
If you have any questions, please contact Nicole Webster.
Don't forget!
Charlie Wadleigh will be cooking up lunch on the grill for everyone who joins us this Sunday, October 9th. Thank you, Charlie!
2023 Benefits Open Enrollment
The yearly period where you can enroll/make changes in your health insurance plan for the next calendar year will be coming up shortly.

We're excited to announce an early start and an extended enrollment period this year. This will give you more time to compare plans, weigh your options and discuss logistics with your family before you choose your benefits for next year.
Mark Your Calendars
Check next week's newsletter for more details about open enrollment.
Excavation & Trenching Safety
It is important to eliminate hazards, minimize dangers, and control risks by implementing precautions in excavations and trenches.

Dangers can include cave-ins, falling loads, hazardous atmospheres, and hazards from using heavy equipment. Regular pre-work inspections can reduce hazards and serious risk of injury. Safety inspections should check for the type of excavation being conducted, support and warning systems in place, access areas, weather conditions, heavy equipment, and PPE.

Before beginning excavation, establish the locations of underground and overhead utilities and services. Contact utility companies and advise them prior to the start of excavation.

Keep the tips below in mind throughout projects requiring excavation.
Can you answer the question from this week's safety discussion?
How often must inspections of excavations, adjacent areas and protective systems occur?
At the start of every job
Daily
After every hazard-producing occurrence (i.e. rainfall)
All of the above
