Substance Abuse Training
for Supervisors
Drug Free Workplace Compliance
Under DOT regulation 49 CFR Part 40, employers in Department of Transportation-regulated industries must conduct drug and alcohol testing for employees in safety-sensitive positions at designated points throughout their employment.
Reasonable Suspicion/Cause testing is one of the most important, and often most challenging, components of a drug-free workplace program. This type of testing allows employers to act outside routine testing requirements when specific, observable indicators of substance use are present. Only supervisors who have completed the required training may make a reasonable suspicion determination.
Valley Health Employer Health offers a half-day Substance Abuse Training for Supervisors that includes:
- Review of company drug and alcohol policies
- DOT reasonable suspicion requirements
- Recognition of signs and symptoms of impairment
- Interactive case studies and real-world scenarios
