Urine drug testing is generally the "go-to" method of testing when dealing with substance use/ abuse in custody & other court testing. Alternate testing methodologies, however, can provide additional information that may be vital to the safety of children and other members of the household. Urine, saliva, hair, fingernails, toenails, & blood are all viable testing options.

Child Exposure Hair Testing
|
ChildGuard® is the only drug test designed to detect passive exposure to drugs and detect both native drugs and drug metabolites in the hair with a 90 day window of detection.
A positive test suggests that the child has experienced exposure to drugs via passive smoke inhalation, contact with drug smoke, contact with sweat or skin oil (sebum) of a drug user, contact with the actual drug or accidental/ intentional ingestion of drugs.
ChildGuard® can be performed on a 5, 7, or 9 panel Hair Test.

PEth Testing (Phosphatidylethanol)
Phosphatidylethanol (PEth) is an abnormal phospholipid formed in cell tissues following alcohol exposure. PEth in blood exists as a component of the red cell membrane and is a mid to long-term alcohol biomarker measurable after engaging in risky alcohol drinking behavior.
A positive result is an indication of binge or prolonged use of alcohol during the 2-3 weeks prior to the collection of the blood.

|
Hair and Nail Testing
Drugs are incorporated into the nail from the blood stream and remain locked in the nail as it grows. Drugs can be identified in nail clippings 1-2 weeks following ingestion and the window of detection may extend from 3 to 12 months after the last usage. Environmental exposure is immediately detectable.
Window of Detection:
Fingernails - 3-6 Months
Toenails - Up to 9-12 months

5280 Drug Testing manages the entire process by:
|
|
Our team will consult with you to determine what testing methodologies and time frames are most appropriate for the particular case. In some situations, a combination of testing options may be the best option to get the information you are looking for.
|
Once we have determined the best course of action for testing, our team will locate and lab/ collection facility and order the appropriate test(s). Orders may be disseminated to the respondent directly or to the legal team for disbursement based on court order, protective order, etc.
|
Upon execution of a Release of Information and once results are available, 5280 Drug Testing will provide certified, court admissible copies to the designated authorities.
|
Sometimes results need explanation. All positive tests should be reviewed for accuracy based on metabolite information. NOT ALL POSITIVE TESTS ARE CREATED EQUAL. Our staff is trained to read and interpret metabolite information. In some cases, the presence or absence of certain metabolites on a positive test may be related to environmental exposure vs. ingestion, therefore, positive results should be reviewed before consequences are levied.
|
If needed, our Legal Plus Team is available for in-person, phone or video conference court testimony.

Court & Custody Testing Offered:
|
|
Drug Testing: We will customize the panel dependent upon the situation. 5 panel to 17 panel
Alcohol Testing: ETG (Ethyl Glucuronide); this is a direct metabolite produced by the ingestion of ethanol alcohol; urine test has a window of approximately 80 hours)
Hair Follicle Testing: Panel can be customized to include drugs and Alcohol (ETG); window of detection approximately 90 days for head hair and 1 year for body hair
Fingernail and Toenail Testing: Panel can be customized to include drugs and Alcohol (ETG); window of detection approximately 3-6 months for fingernails and 6-9 months for toenails
PEth Testing: (Phosphatidylethanol); this blood test uses this direct alcohol bio-marker to indicate exposure to alcohol going back 2-3 weeks. This tests is an accurate indicator of prolonged or binge use of alcohol.
Child Guard Hair Exposure Testing: Typical hair tests with other labs will only report a positive exposure result if drug metabolites are detected, even when the native drug is in the child’s hair specimen.
ChildGuard® reports a positive result if either native drugs or drug metabolites are detected, giving much better insight about the child’s environment. ChildGuard® can provide evidence of substance use in a child’s environment for the past 3 months, and can be performed on donors of any age.
DNA Testing: We provide DNA Testing for paternity, siblingship, grandparentage and immigration.
