On Tuesday, March 9, 2020, Gov. JB Pritzker declared a “State of Emergency” in response to COVID-19 to better prepare the State of Illinois for the next steps in this effort.

The proclamation provides a way for state and local governments, including the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) to receive federal funds for our planning and response efforts. This also helps the state to better assist county and local governments, and to procure emergency supplies and equipment if needed.

DCHD and the DuPage County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (OHSEM) work together daily to keep our communities safe from the spread of infectious disease. This proclamation is an important part of the process for DuPage County to continue to work together to minimize the interruption to our social, economic and healthcare environments.
