As of today, over 231,637 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to DuPage County residents and 157,976 residents have received at least one dose of vaccine. Of those vaccinated, 73,661 people, or 7.93 percent, have received second doses and are fully vaccinated. This represents the administration of 48,304 doses of vaccine in the past week to DuPage County residents.

The network of vaccination provider sites in DuPage County, including the DCHD Community Vaccination Clinic, currently has the capacity to administer more than 50,000 doses each week once vaccine supply allows. However, DuPage County only received 8,500 first doses this week. From this allocation, 1,300 doses were distributed to medical practices, 800 doses were distributed to Federally Qualified Health Centers, 4,500 doses were distributed to hospitals, 1,000 doses were distributed to pharmacies, 500 doses were distributed to commercial vaccination providers, 100 doses were distributed to urgent care providers, and 300 doses are supplying the DCHD Community Vaccination Clinic. Additional county-specific vaccine data, including first dose allocations by week and allocations by provider type, are available on the COVID-19 Dashboard at www.dupagehealth.org/covid19data.

Notably, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for the Janssen vaccine on Saturday, February 27, making it the third COVID-19 vaccine to receive an EUA from the FDA. In clinical trials, all three vaccines were highly efficacious in preventing severe COVID-19 illness, hospitalization, and death. Once Janssen doses are shipped to DuPage County, this vaccine will be distributed to various providers.

“We are thrilled to now have a third safe and effective vaccine available to us in our COVID-19 response toolkit. Each of the vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna and Janssen) can save lives and protect against COVID-19, so we urge eligible residents to take advantage of the first available vaccine appointment,” said Karen Ayala, Executive Director of DuPage County Health Department. “While we work to get more people vaccinated, we’re also concerned about an uptick this week in our case activity, so we must all continue following the 3 Ws by wearing a mask, watching our distance, and washing our hands. These public health measures are especially important as new variants of COVID-19 have been identified throughout the country, including here in Illinois and DuPage County.”

Upgraded COVID-19 Vaccine
Registration System
DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) has recently upgraded their COVID-19 vaccine registration system. The upgraded registration system will allow DCHD to gather more information from the people who register and facilitate and track those who have scheduled an appointment. This week, everyone who was previously registered was sent an email requesting more information by March 11, 2021. People who are transferred from the previous registration list to the new one will keep their place in line and be offered an appointment once it is their turn. Anyone seeking vaccine who lives or works in DuPage County, and was not registered with DCHD already may register on our website at www.dupagehealth.org/covid19vaccine, or call (630) 682-7400 if assistance is needed with registration (i.e., no internet or computer access, language assistance, or have questions).
DuPage County COVID-19 Vaccine Data
The DuPage County Health Department, with the support of DuPage County GIS, has added an interactive COVID-19 Vaccine Data feature onto the DuPage County COVID-19 Dashboard. The vaccine feature provides information about vaccine providers, weekly vaccine allocations, and allocations by provider type throughout DuPage County. To view the DuPage County COVID-19 Dashboard, visit www.dupagehealth.org/covid19data.
COVID-19 Vaccine Confidence Survey
The Health Equity and Access Response Team (HEART), is surveying DuPage County residents to gain a better understanding of questions and concerns that people have about COVID-19 vaccination. While today we are seeing a high demand for vaccine with a very limited supply, we are listening carefully to the concerns expressed by community residents that may be reluctant to sign up for vaccination, or may be having a difficult time with current distribution strategies. The survey is available in the seven languages most commonly spoken in DuPage County with a desire to reach as many communities as possible, particularly those disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. The survey will remain open through March 7th

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Every week, the DuPage County Health Department will be sharing the most frequently asked questions (FAQ) about the coronavirus pandemic to help educate and inform county residents. For a list of additional FAQ, visit COVID-19: Frequently Asked Questions.

I received an e-mail from DCHD requesting more information. Is this a scam?
The email you received on either March 3 or March 4 is not a scam. This week, we upgraded our vaccine registration system. Everyone registered on the previous vaccine registration list received an email with instructions on how to update their information in the new system to keep their place in line. The link provided is unique to the individual and should not be shared with others. This request allows people who are signed-up to confirm their interest in getting the vaccine or to opt-out if they have already been vaccinated. If you have not already submitted your information, please do so at the unique link sent to you. If you do not update your information with the link sent to you by March 11, 2021, you will no longer be on the vaccine registration list to receive appointment alerts from DuPage County Health Department.

Will I lose my place in line after re-registering?
If you provide the additional information requested (using the unique link sent to you), you will not lose your place in line. People who are transferred from the previous registration list to the new one will keep their place in line and be offered an appointment once it is their turn.

Which COVID-19 vaccine will I get?
Due to high demand, low supply, and the unpredictable nature of vaccine supply, individuals vaccinated at the DCHD clinic will not have the opportunity to choose in advance which vaccine they receive (i.e., Pfizer, Moderna, Janssen). If you do not want to be vaccinated with the vaccine brand available that day, you may decide not to be vaccinated at the clinic.

  4. If the business employs medical staff, consider registering with IDPH to receive and administer vaccine (ideally for companies with over 1,000 employees)
