In 2014, Dublin Fringe Festival turns 20. Marking our birthday gives us a chance to look back on where we came from and refocus what comes next. The festival that began as an upstart on the margins has become one of the most important and vital parts of the Irish cultural calendar, the biggest interdisciplinary festival in Dublin and a home for radical, moving and visionary performance.

This year Dublin Fringe Festival celebrates what's renegade, what breaks taboos, what provokes us to think and reconsider, what moves us, what invites us to empathise. We want to hear from the back of the class, from the previously voiceless, from leaders, from visionaries, from the irreverent, from the restless and impatient, the outraged and the outrageous.

Curatorial emphasis will be placed on proposals that are artistically rigorous and/or conceptually adventurous. We will continue Dublin Fringe Festival's tradition of being a festival that responds to what's happening in the city and what's happening in Ireland-work that explores contemporary issues, that talks politics and looks at who we are in the world will continue to be at the forefront of what we present. Thematic undertones will explore Dublin's place in the world, stranger-ness and other-ness and the tensions between our public and private selves. We're also going to make a foray into presenting work that is sensorial, body-based and experiential - we open a new call out to artists working in the surreal, the sensual, the fantastical, the far out and the psychedelic.

Dublin Fringe Festival 2014 will take place over sixteen days in theatres, clubs, parks, bars, galleries, in the street and in a host of other unconventional locales. We are boosting our ability this year to assist and support artists proposing work in unusual or 'difficult' sites - so pitch us something daring. Throughout we will prioritise new work, new creations and new ideas-be it theatre, dance, comedy, music, visual art, circus, spectacle, cuisine, filmmaking, storytelling, spoken word or hybrid forms. We want new partners - we welcome applications from individuals, organisations and groups to host special Fringe editions of existing events and happenings.

Dublin Fringe Festival is a curated festival and is committed to equity and inclusion. We seek to program a diverse range of projects from artists coming from a diverse set of backgrounds. Therefore we welcome proposals from artists working across artistic disciplines regardless of nationality, race, cultural background, age, religion, language, abilities/disabilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic status or geographic region.

We can't wait to see what you have to propose for this year's Fringe.
