2020 Seniors Reflect
As the school year rolls ever-closer to graduation, members of the Senior class will share some thoughts about what EAA has meant to them and what they will miss once graduation is over and they are alumni.

"EAA is a great place that taught me the meaning of friendship. I have met the best friends I ever had. I will miss them terribly."

NHS Raises Funds to Fight Cancer
The National Honor Society, under the leadership of Mrs. Vindel, sponsored a three-week long fundraiser to fight Leukemia and Lymphoma. In addition to classroom competitions, one fundraising event involved the entire school. Stuck for a Buck saw students purchasing strips of duct tape for $1 to tape Principal, Mr. Davis, to the wall in the Auditorium. It was a GREAT success. $140 was collected through this fundraiser representing 140 pieces of duct tape that held Mr. Davis on the wall!
Thanks for supporting this fundraiser everyone.
The total amount raised during the three weeks was $1219.33 .
Mr. Davis...Thanks for being such a good sport!

Celebrating Dr. Seuss and Read Across America
Students and teachers celebrated Read Across America and the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss) on Monday, March 2, 2020. Books, blankets and stuffed animals were on display throughout the classrooms and hallways in the elementary grades. Ms. Zimmerman brought her Dr. Seuss-inspired "Green Eggs and Ham" for the students to enjoy. What a fun way to celebrate the importance of reading.
A book, a blanket and a good friend! It doesn't get any better than this!

Earth Day Posters
Each year the City of Escondido sponsors an Earth Day Poster Contest. The theme for this year is "Choose to Reuse." K-8 students in both public and private schools use recycled materials to construct their amazing works of art. The top 30 posters will be on display at City Hall between March 18th through April 1st in the foyer. The awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at 6:00 pm in Council Chambers at City Hall. Here are some of the entries from EAA for 2020.
Future Astronauts & Pilots
On February 27, 2020, EAA third graders toured the Air & Space Museum and had a glimpse into space. The learned about the four forces of flight: lift thrust drag , and  weight . The students each made their own planes and tested the four forces.
High Flight
"Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds -
and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of -
wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence.
Hovering there I've chased the shouting wind along
and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air."Up, up the long delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace,
where never lark, or even eagle, flew;
and, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
the high untrespassed sanctity of space,
put out my hand and touched the face of God."

Alumni Weekend
May 2, 2020
Hugh and Beverly Dumbeck were in attendance at the San Marcos Church when the EAA Chorale visited on February 29, 2020. Mr. Dumbeck was the History and Shop teacher at EAA and Mrs. Dumbeck was EAA's Business Manager. Mr. Davis was one of Mr. Dumbeck's students. Mr. Dumbeck's remembrance was..."There are some students you just NEVER forget." Who might you see at Alumni Weekend?
The Davis Principles
Hawks Family,

This past week, I was blessed to celebrate another year of life. Perhaps the biggest blessing that I received, however, was my entire school family gathering together shortly before lunch and presenting me with gifts put together by every class. I can't begin to tell you how much that meant.

Colossians 2:7 reads, "Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness." We are blessed at EAA! We have such an amazing group of students, faculty, staff, and families that are rooted in Him. I am overflowing with thankfulness!

Blessings,

Bill Davis
TK-12 Principal
