Completing your Award in the Online Record Book

There are many steps to completing your Award in the Online Record Book. The usual issues are:
- the adventurous journey section
- assessor's reports
The adventurous journey section requires that you do 3 parts: Preparation and Training, Practice Journey and Qualifying Journey. For each of these parts you have to go in and set up the activity to say what you are going to do. Then you have to go and do that activity. Then you have to log back into the practice journey and qualifying journey parts and fill in the REPORT section. This is a tab at the top of the page when you click on Practice Journey or Qualifying Journey. It will ask you to fill in your Journey Observations before you send it to your assessor for approval. For your Practice Journey you can fill in what you did for your practice journey in this box. However, for the Qualifying Journey we highly recommend that you create a separate document for your adventurous journey write up so that you can share what you did for your whole trip. There must be an adventurous journey write up done in order for your award level to be approved. Make sure your write up has all the details about what you did on your trip.

Assessor's reports are another common issue. Once you send a section to your assessor for approval it is important to follow up with them to make sure they got it and actually fill it out. Sometimes it will go to their Spam mailbox so they will need to check. If you need your assessor report re-sent, we can do that for you from our office, just give us a call or send us an email manitoba@dukeofed.org
For the Adventurous Journey section, you need two assessors reports. One for the practice journey and one for the qualifying journey. It is two separate assessors reports. Make sure your assessors understand they will need to do it twice if they went with you on both trips. One assessor's report will not count for the adventurous journey section.

June is a busy time of year for award approvals. Make sure you get your submission in well in advance of any award presentations or graduation ceremonies so that we can have it approved in time. Please give at least 2 weeks for any approval of an award to occur.

Everyone has a passion. What's yours?

At the Duke of Ed, we equip young people with the confidence and skills to be change makers in their communities. This summer, we are challenging Canadian youth from 16-24 to turn their passion into purpose in meaningful ways. An initiative under the Canada Service Corps, funded by the Federal Government - link here.

Passion to Purpose is a 5-day youth forum developed for 100 Canadians aged 16-24. Taking place at the University of Regina this August 13-17th, youth will participate in workshops, team building exercises and outdoor activities that will develop their passion into an action plan that creates lasting impacts within their communities.

At the Duke of Ed, we believe that education comes in many forms and that the objective of learning is self-growth. With our Passion to Purpose forum, participants will gain different perspectives by challenging each other with myriad insights that will evolve their understanding of the world.

The cost to attend the event is $200 and all meals and accommodations are included for the length of the event. Transportation from the Regina Airport to the University of Regina is included.  Transportation to and from Regina Airport is not included. However travel bursaries are available.

Participants will start each morning inspired by our Duke of Ed alumni keynote speakers who have become change-makers in their own communities. The workshops, in combination with the outdoor activities throughout the day are designed to take participants from inspiration to realization. This is a great Gold/Residential project opportunity for participants working on their Gold level.

Visit us at  www.dukeofed.org/passiontopurpose   to apply, and email p2p@dukeofed.org with any further inquiries.
Volunteer with Local Health Involvement Groups!
