Keeping our neighborhood beautiful & critter-free on trash days 🗑️♻️
Dear Neighbors,
We all love keeping Dulles Farms looking its best. To help maintain our community’s high standards and prevent any unwelcome furry visitors, see the reminder below regarding trash and recycling collection.
Please take a moment to review our community guidelines for pickup days:
Secure Your Bins & Boxes:
Lids Down: Please ensure all bin lids are completely closed. Overfilled bins easily spill over in high winds or become targets for local wildlife.
Bag Your Trash: Secure your trash in tied bags before placing it in the bin to prevent loose litter from blowing down the street during emptying. (Note: Please do not bag your recycling, as plastic bags can jam the sorting machines).
Recycling Best Practices (Cardboard & Glass) To ensure our recycling efforts are effective and don't create a mess on our streets, please keep these rules in mind:
Flatten Cardboard: Please break down and flatten all cardboard boxes before putting them in your recycling bin. Large, unflattened boxes cause the bin lids to stay open, allowing wind to scatter items across the neighborhood.
Storage Between Pickups
-
When it isn’t trash day, all bins must be stored out of sight from the street
- Community Teamwork: Dealing with Stray Litter
Even with the best precautions, the wind happens! Here is how we can work together to keep our common areas clean:
See it? Pitch in: If you see a stray piece of paper, a loose plastic bottle, or a rogue wrapper blowing down your street or near your yard, please take a quick moment to pick it up and toss it in the bin. A little neighborly teamwork goes a long way.
Bulk Trash & Large Quantities: If you notice large quantities of loose trash, illegally dumped furniture, or an excessive mess in a common area, please do not attempt to clean it up yourself. Instead, report it immediately to management at DulFarms@CiraMail.com or call us at 703-542-7555 so we can dispatch a cleanup crew.
Windy Day Tip: If the forecast calls for high winds, consider waiting until the morning of pickup to put your bins out. Light recycling (like plastics and paper) is the first thing to blow away!
Thank you so much for your cooperation and for doing your part to keep Dulles Farms clean, safe, and beautiful for everyone.
