Daylight Saving Times Ends Sunday

It's that time of year again - time to fall back an hour now that Daylight Savings Time is ending. As a reminder, don't forget to set your clocks back an hour before you go to bed on Saturday night and of course....enjoy that extra hour of sleep!

As a reminder...The Dulles Farms Community guidance on Halloween is consistent with the info posted by Loudoun County found HERE.

Each family within our community should evaluate their own situation to determine what is best regarding partaking in festivities during Halloween. As a reminder we recommend that homes that opt NOT to participate in typical Halloween festivities, please keep their porch lights off as a sign they are not partaking.

Virtual Cooking Class

November 14th - 4:30 to 6 PM

Get the family together and choose one of three virtual Cookology Cooking classes hosted by professional chefs. Stay online after the class and have a virtual dinner party with your neighbors!

Fall Lawn Care

Autumn is here! With the falling temps, it is a good time to start planning for leaf and yard clean up. We recommend picking up those leaves as they fall and not waiting until the last leaf falls. And...please don't forget about those unsightly tree stakes that are ready for removal. Thank you!

The end of summer doesn't mean the end of lawn care. Take these simple steps with your grass now and you'll have a head start on a healthy lawn for next spring.

Remove any leaves: A carpet of colorful autumn leaves may look nice and be fun to play in, but they're no good for grass. They block the light and trap moisture, potentially fatal knockout punches for the unlucky turf underneath.
Continue to mow your lawn: Grass continues to grown up to the first hard frost, and so will need regular cuts to keep it at an ideal 2½- to 3-inch height.
Fill in Bald Spots: Autumn is also a great time of year to fix any bare, bald spots in your lawn.
Weed Control: If broad leaf weeds like dandelions have taken over your lawn, now's the time to fight back. Weeds, like most plants, are in the energy-absorbing mode during the fall. They're drinking in everything that comes their way, including weed killers. Apply an herbicide now and the weeds won't return in the spring. Remember, if your lawn is overcome by weeds, you will need to fill in those bald spots once the weeds have been eradicated.

Maintenance Minute

The Stratshire Crossing Townhome cluster mailboxes are scheduled to be painted on Saturday afternoon 10/31 and Sunday 11/1 weather dependent. These days of the week have been chosen in order to avoid any disruption in mail delivery. Please be mindful of workers in the area and WET PAINT signs.
