Video Highlight - Betty Fain, Remarkable Women Finalist!
Betty Fain, former client of Dumas Wesley Community Center's transitional housing program, the Sybil Smith Family Village, has been selected as a finalist for WKRG and Gulf Coast CW’s "Remarkable Women" contest. Fain's story aired on WKRG this past month highlighting her incredible transformation from drug addiction and homelessness to living a life of independence and purpose.
“When I got here, I was addicted to crack. I was sleeping in abandoned houses. I have been to treatment several times. I have been to jail several times, but through the grace of God, I didn’t go to prison,” said Betty Fain. “I am so full of gratitude that I don’t know what to do,” said Fain.
Fain is now a first time homeowner, an A-class welder at Austal USA and a member of Dumas Wesley’s Board of Directors.
