Get to Know Your ANCO Musicians
Crystal Barrett is currently Principal Oboe with the Owensboro (KY) Symphony Orchestra, Second Oboe with the Evansville (IN) Philharmonic Orchestra and is pursuing a Doctorate in Music Performance and Literature at Indiana University under the direction of accomplished oboists Roger Roe and Linda Strommen. Additionally, she has been Principal Oboe with the Long Bay (SC) Symphony and the Ohio Light Opera and has played English horn with the Evansville Philharmonic and Owensboro Symphony Orchestras. Other engagements include the Kent/Blossom Music Festival, the National Orchestral Institute, Sarasota Music Festival, the Bloomington Camerata Orchestra, the South Carolina Philharmonic and the Louisiana State University Chamber Winds Camp. As an active adjudicator, Ms. Barrett has served with the Indiana State Schools Solo and Ensemble Festival and the South Carolina Central Region Band Auditions. Ms. Barrett is affiliated with the Delta Omicron Music Fraternity, International Double Reed Society and is a lifetime member of the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society. She is also a recipient of the Earnest Harrison Oboe Scholarship and has had the pleasure of studying with oboists John Mack, Nancy Ambrose King, Frank Rosenwein and Jeff Rathbun. In her spare time, Ms. Barrett loves reading and water-skiing. |
