Lend a Gardening Hand on Saturday!
|
|
Saturday, November 2
9:00 AM
T Street Park
17th and T Street NW
With Fall coming along, DCCA lead gardeners Rebecca and Marcy, have plans to move things around the garden in order to make room for more native plants. Please come by on Saturday and lend a hand in digging up and transplanting the drought-hardy lillies and goldenrod to the little triangle point at New Hampshire and 17th.
The team will also plan to install a serviceberry tree. For others who are not diggers, there is raking and bagging leaves (lotsa leaves), and rearranging of the stepping stones in the little Freedom pocket park.
Those who look forward to bulb planting will have to wait a few weeks. It's too warm just yet. We'll do that later in November or early December.
No experience necessary -- just bring a smile, your energy, and gardening gloves (optional). Late risers are welcome!
And take note of a few interesting links and media for greenthumbs.....

- An article about Beekeepers filing a lawsuit after EPA removes a restriction on insecticides

Neighborhood Call Box Preservation Project

The boxes were in use from the 1890s to the 1970s for emergency response and with a collective effort of the community, have been transformed into public art across city neighborhoods.
