Growing the Agritourism Sector

From farm markets and pick-your-own fields to seasonal experiences and farm-to-table dining, agritourism is creating new opportunities for farmers and rural businesses.

Contributing an estimated $633 million to the Ontario economy each year and supporting more than 8,700 jobs, the sector continues to grow as people look for experiences that connect them with local food, farming and rural communities. For producers, agritourism can offer a valuable way to diversify their operations, reach new customers and drive economic growth in rural communities.

Support for Employers of International Agri-Food Workers

Every year, international agri-food workers play an important role in supporting Ontario's agricultural and food processing sectors. To help employers create a safe, healthy and welcoming workplace, the Government of Ontario has developed a collection of resources covering topics such as workplace health and safety, housing and worker support services.

The resource also includes information that can be shared with employees to help them settle into their workplace and community.

Whether you're hiring international workers for the first time or looking to strengthen existing practices, these tools can help support a positive experience for everyone involved.
