Explore On-Farm Diversified Uses

Get ready to grow your farm with new ideas. On June 23, join Durham Region Federation of Agriculture and Invest Durham for a hand-on workshop exploring on-farm diversified uses such as value-added products, agritourism and more.

The session runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will explain new On-Farm Diversified Uses policies, including what’s permitted and how to navigate the process. The Business Advisory Centre Durham (BACD) will be on hand to provide business planning advice, enjoy a guided farm tour of Forsythe Family Farms and learn from a panel of farmers about their experiences with farm diversification. Tickets are $10 and include lunch.

2026 Census of Agriculture

There is still time to submit the 2026 Census of Agriculture. Conducted every five years, the Census of Agriculture helps provide accurate and up-to-date information that is needed to make informed decisions about agricultural policies, programs and services that directly affect farmers and rural communities.

The questionnaire is available online, or paper copies can be requested. It has also been shortened and streamlined, and questions can be reviewed in advance so needed information can be prepared ahead of time.

Ensure your farm is counted in Canada’s agriculture data.
