December 2018

Another year almost over, we've welcomed 54 new members so far, and are about to hold our 30th event!
Far too many venues to mention, including some new additions; Hotel Indigo, Old Tom's Gin Bar, The Butterfly Room and The Impeccable Pig.
It seems no time since we kicked off the year with our Member Showcase and we're busy planning it all again.
We look forward to another exciting year ahead showcasing more great places and already have some crackers lined up for 2019!

It's been another prosperous year for the group, with many new clients, and offices at capacity here at Portland House, with a little restructure a partition was added behind reception to create a small meeting room behind reception.  I  couldn't have done without the support of our fantastic team, Sarah, Beth and Sue, our Board of Directors, and of course, our amazing members and clients!  We hope you can join us for our final event of the year as we celebrate the festive season with our AGM Christmas lunch on 11th December.

On behalf of all at Durham Business Group, we wish you and your families a Wonderful Christmas and a Prosperous New Year!

Happy Networking!

Launch of Rural Digital Hub in East Durham

East Durham Business Centre officially opened with a launch and networking event, over 50 local businesses attended and were given advice on business support and grants for local businesses in East Durham.

Cllr Carl Marshall, Durham County Council's Cabinet member for economic regeneration, said "It's fantastic to see a new opportunity for small digital businesses, especially one that brings new job opportunities and revives an existing building. Ensuring the success of small businesses is an important aspect of regeneration so we fully support any project that nurtures this."

North East LEP Business Growth Director, Colin Bell said: "The Strategic Economic Plan clearly sets out our ambitions to stimulate economic growth and provide funding and support in rural areas. This digital enterprise hub is an excellent example of the type of project we look to invest in, mixing digital technology and business space, which are both drivers of the regional economy."

During training you will take part in a behind the scenes video that is shown on a big screen at the event before you take to the stage to perform in front of a live audience. After wowing the crowds with your moves you will be interviewed by a host, and receive comments and scores from a judging panel. It really is just like the television show!   Dance lessons start in January 2019. Spaces are limited to just twelve couples.
